big bore,cams,headwork thoughts
Hi , i have been cheking out this forum for a while and it seems like a good source of info with some frindley folks .ALRIGHT now to the matter at hand i have an 06 14 with 5000 miles on it .the flies are out ,16t front sprocket and brocks gen 3 ss. I DOE ALITTLE DRAG RACING AT THE TRACK WHICH IS 1/8 MILE my best time so far is 6.39 @ 116 mph. my question is where should I start to get more power? Im not so much interested in the 1/8 mile asI am the 1/4 mile grude racing .To many busa's with big bore and cames I can run with these guys but its close it goes either way. the zuk guys talk some much junk they dont seem to understand that im basically stock , engine ,length, height. your thougths would be appreciated . not so sure about the 16t

Stretch it out, get a smeg instead of the gen 3 (as a matter of fact I will sell you my midpipe and megaphone canister for 350) then start workin on the little things like what brock talks about in his streetsmart forum HOW TO SLAM AND PREP A BUSA most of the things carry over to the 14... I have had done some head work and a few other things and my bike makes great power and Runs like it stole something but it is also pretty expensive and at stock wheelbase I think it would be hard to handle unless you wanted to add some ballast weight

the cheapest and quickest way you can pick up some et is to get some lowering links and a strap! and those close races will not be so close anymore.
and then practice, practice, practice! and then repeat! that way you can put it back to the way you ride it everyday after the track.
and if that don't work
Like BlackMagic says-------stretch it!! but it still needs to be lowered and strapped at least!

Well,
I just may part my REX (again) and get a 14 ...... only 1 problem though and I don't see a reasonable way around it.

TROLL
One who purposely and deliberately (that purpose usually being self-amusement) starts an argument in a manner which attacks others on a forum without in any way listening to the arguments proposed by his or her peers.
smokinzx14
you couldn't be more wrong, actually I would be interested in knowing the FACTS on what kawboi has ask... head work, big bore kit cam's and also does any one know if you can put an intake cam on the exhust side of the 14 like the 13. If you were to bore the 14 how far and what compression is still streetable???
I don't care what you ride but as kawboi stated the trash talk sucks... I'll help anyone with the right attitude. Also i like honda but they dont make a adult sise bike to fit my needs.
Now that is cleared up {i hope}
Why has no one answered any questions??? I am sure someone has been there and done that... Is it a secrete?

No you can NOT swap an intake cam to the exhaust side ..The exhaust cam is where the cam sensor goes ...But you can get cams from a bunch of diiferent vendors ....2 mill big bore 13.5.1 can be had as well and make 1417 ... stroker kits up to 1570 for muzzy and a few others ...Ported heads from Carpender , spaz , adams and others .. Turbos well there are about 7 different ones on the market ....
Point is if your not using the power the bike has with just a pipe and p/c why add the power ...That's why nobody answered the question he asked ....He still has alot of ET and MPH to find before he needs more HP.........His best bet is more seat time ...Smokin..

GOOD GRIEF x 2 ... I'm not going to touch that one...
I have been looking at the cams and was thinking if the sensor is the only hold up then why not install a solid hardened non stainless pin in the intake cam, to be installed on exhust side???
The 1300 uses one on the intake... I did not have time to mike the jurnals but they look the same. the sensor in a magnetic pick up type so stainless wont work... the cam would need to be drilled at the same position or degree... I think I could handle that... I dont know the cam specks on the stock or after market, so would it be worth the time to try?
I would not weld the cam because the heat placed in one spot one one side of a hollow cam would bend it and cause the cam to break... probably when you were raceing a 1300, that would be bad...
Big bore...
I have seen 2 and 3 mil any thoughts on street use???
I would stay at 12-1 no more than 12.5-1...
I don't know if 3 mil would run hot though... any thoughts???
Ported heads...
I do my own...end of discussion!!!
I would like to know if any one has an idea of the horse power increase by just doing the head.
Turbo...
well now we are back to where you were saying something about somebody needing to learn to ride what they have and be happy...
p.s Thanks for the reply...
So many times we are interested in learning, and sharing what we have been tought only to find others no so willing to learn or share...

I see you have got a lot of information to work with, try and not let it confuse you...
It seams that no one knows alot about the 14 or any bike for that matter...
From all that I have read all I see is a bunch of arguing and crying...
You are probably like me and just like facts and good intelegent conversation...
I have noticed you have not replyed in some time, I can see why, to many young kids...
But we were young once, The good thing about these fourms is you can just push the off button...
If I were looking for more power first I would price every thing and get a game plan...
I asume you are thinking of haveing the bike finished fore spring,so you have time to do what ever you want... Me I would go with bigger pistons, head work possibly cams and valve springs... Springs because if you don't do cams now you can later with out removing the head and removing the motor again... If you are thinking of nitrous I would only go with wet not dry...I will explain if you want... And yes no matter how fast you are you can practice and get better If nothing else more consistant... I'm not into it like that any more. Its nice to be fast enough to keep up, but thats just me...
It just depends on you' your $$$ and you probably need a good pair of shoes...(opps that just poped out)... You could install a wet shot and keep it to yourself, but thats hard to do...
bottom line is its up to you... I have read alot of B.S.and cant understand the reason fore it, I'm starting to think they have little weewee's and are trying make up fore it ...
GOOD LUCK WITH WHAT EVER YOU DO 30th...

LOL
Im liken this davisag Guy!
Engine parts on the kitchen counter.... is waaaay cool! LOL
he'd the real deal...
when you wash your cylinders pistons heads and in the dishwasher as I have doen before... (the dry cycle really gets em dry and prevents corrosion, wash cycle does great job of removing machining filings)
.......then you KNOW who wears the pants!

stuck with 1352cc the j&es are high compression replacments and retain the std rings, so everything will be bedded in as was
