08 14 and 08 busa appear to be equal

Do you fellows think this is coincidence or are Kawasaki and Suzuki in together on this to simply sell more bikes? I spoke with my stealership yesterday and the busa is selling as fast as they get them. I certainly hope the big Kawi does the same, it's a hell of a nice bike and doesn't get the recognition it should.

I think their as close as you can get with 2 different bikes from 2 different manufacturers. Everybody want's to see the bikes on the same dyno on the same day with the same miles with the same....blah blah blah. Their still going to be with in 5hp of each other. I think it's a little retarted to decide which bike to buy because it has 2..3..or 5hp more. I buy what i like and that's it. To each his own...

Well this is my thinking on the situation....It took Kaw 9 years to come up with a answer to the busa. The 12 was close and maybe better to some people but still didnt quite make the grade in my book. Now it's 06 and we have a answer to the busa with the 14....2 years later we have the new busa and both bikes are so close. Do i think they planned this.....yes. I think suz was thinking up a answer the moment they got wind of kaw's 14. I'm kinda disappointed in the fact Kaw let Suz run all over them for 9 years before they done anything about it. Now we only had 2 (if that) good years of R&D with the 14, and now we have a revamped busa to deal with. I dont like the ideal Suz just revamped the busa a little and and threw it back out to pasture. I think it was time for a total redesign after 9 years. They put quick fix's on there just to keep up sales numbers up. I think Suz planned it out a little better than Kaw did but now we have 2 bikes that are neck an neck. The only thing that's going to hurt Kaw is the huge cult following the busa has....all because it was so dominate for so many years.......it all comes full circle.

The busa is a cult bike for sure it will probably always out sell the ninja. As for the manuf. working together too sell more bikes i dont think so. But they are doing whatever they can to keep perfomance high cause lets face it thats what we buy. I personnaly like the 14 better and as flatoutbu stated above thats really what its all about. Dont get caught up buying one over the other for any reason other than its what you like best!! Believe me the 14 is well on its way to getting everybodies attention! Bill..

the little kawasaki show in palm beach county, fl has put up the new silver ZX -14 today.
I got to see it.

Great color.

I am also undecided between this and the orange busa.
(I like orange more, but I like Kawa's frame, brake and the fact that most other people
get busa :-) ). I was also told that Kaw vavle adjustment is much more expensive
than busa's -- but with the way I ride I will get to 16K miles in about 7 years (if that)

So spending 13K on a luxury item (something that I do not really need for
any specific purpose) , and choosing between such two great machines -- is
really difficult. But it is 'difficult' as in 'entartainment - difficult'

Of course it's all about marketing strategies and making money...be no surprise to me whatsoever if Kawasaki and Suzuki decided on what performance measures they will both make the most money from us with.. before making the current 2008 ZX-14 and new Busa...no surprise at all...

It's always been more about "money" than producing the quickest or fastest bike...

Hey ....they like being popular.. but like being rich much more....

Any one doubt that?

have fun.. enjoy your bike...I like the Kawasaki better myself...both bikes are unreal....can't go wrong with either...

Who cares what sells more!??! (I know Kawasaki sells billions of $$$ in commercial products IE: Generators Airline parts and on & on & on)
I like the idea of being different and who wants a bike that everyone else has. Personally you buy what turns yer crank. The Busa is like a Chevy. They are all over the place.

I love how these 2 bikes are seemingly equal. It's like something out of the old Dragonball Z Anime. One charecter is super powerful then comes along someone else just as strong and the power level increases until they're equal and the whole planet may be destroyed as they fight lol.

I tell ya this is great since it'll be the aftermarket and tuners that will try to make either bike outdo the other. Hopefully it'll get intense enough for the masses to notice the Zx-14 more. Many will want to jump on the 14 just to do something "different" from all their freinds in the Hayabusa crowd. If this rivalry does heat up to the point of better sales for the 14 and a aftermarket swell for both bikes, then it's a given Yamaha and Honda will jump in too.

Yamaha may have already jumped in with a supposidly 1800 V-MAX. It would almost be funny if all the busa and 14 guy's were watching the MAX'S tail light. I don't think that will happen though.

Nah,,,i think it just makes sense. I think with little hp jumps were not going to see big sales numbers. Were in a world infactuated (spelling) with numbers....as you can tell with all the bickering going on about the 14's hp and the busa's hp. Hell give me 200hp at the tire(from the factory), and that will be the next cult bike....let's see another 20hp jump.

Actually before brock took his tuned 08 busa to maxton and where it went over 200mph twice, he posted dyno sheet and mods list beforehand showing 200 h.p. 115 ft. lbs. with his new alien system, no filter, pc and mr9. http://www.bikeland.org/board/viewthread.php?FID=27&TID=34960

However the 08 14 doesn't have a PC tuning yet but then again the muzzy pipe is a prototype too. And 5ft ibs of torque should make more of a difference then 3hp. Also in question is which bike is losing more weight when the stock exhaust is dumped. Read somewhere the 08 busa's stock exhaust is atleast 44ibs.

Truth is comparing ricky's '08 14 to brocks '08 busa isn't going to do much. When EVERYONE who buys either bike and mods them the same way and gets similar power then we can determine what's legit. Even so either bike is close enough that it'll be down to the rider when racing starts. Besides that it's all in which name on the gastank you trust more, which bike's styling do you prefer.
