Dynoed my 08 Busa today!

Well decided to take the Busa and see what she made today same dyno I ran my 14 on early this year. Dyno room was about 10 degrees cooler today and a little less Hum. But the numbers are corrected anyway. My 14 on this Dyno with Brock's Smeg and Track map, 87 pump fuel and flies removed and 10-40 mobil 1 synthetic made 189.8 and 113.8 for TQ. Bike had about 2000 miles on it as well. Well today hte Busa with 144 miles showing and 100% stock except lowering links made 188.5 and 112.3 for TQ! Now both sets of those Numbers are STD. The Busa was 179.4 and 110.7 SAE, never asked what the 14 was SAE. Don't really matter as I just want to see what the Exhaust and pwr c does for it. I expect 203 to 205 with the Alien head system. So I am very happy right now! What a long ass wait I have to our tracks open back up. You guys won't see any 1/4 mile times from me unless I go to Miss. this Feb for Fat tuesdays.

WOW!
I didn't expect the numbers to be THAT good.
I would still like to see the 08 Busa and 08 14 run on the same dyno back-to-back.
I'll be putting my 08 on the dyno soon, but the only thing I'll have to compare it to will be my 06 on the same dyno.

Maybe I can find a local 08 Busa (showroom stock) to do that with? With me paying?

If you're on the Busa boards, maybe you could throw that out for someone in the DFW TX area. Not as a challenge - no tricks - just curious.

Thanks for the report.

Well I've been telling my Buddy all along that I thought the bike felt as strong as my 14, But I did not think it would make that much either. I asked the operator if the dyno was right and he said they had a bike on it late yesterday that made within 2 hp of what it always does.

Nice Bently,

That's the way it's done, then there's no bullshit. I have to say I'm not suprised one bit. Zuki has had a couple of years to up the performance on the Busa. Looks like they did about what I would have expected them to...raise the bar!

No let's see what the 08 ZX14 brings to the table. I'll wager it's a close match. I sincerely hope Kaw continues to improve their King and not lay back or roll over again for several years....It was nice having my life long brand back on top...

Best Regards,

Larry C

Bently, didn't you go 9.18 @ 151 on your 14? With only 1.3 hp difference between the 14 and Busa.........and probably pretty cool conditions the other day, shouldn't the Busa have went quicker than 9.80's? You had a 1.61 60 ft? and 9.88 @ 144 or 145? Maybe the 08 Busa dyno numbers are STD and 14's are not................What do you think?

188.5hp, that is the biddest number shown by anyone with a stock Busa, Brock's did 179.5hp STD on his Dyno and only 192hp STD on the Hindle factory Dyno with Alien Head exhaust and no PC tuning, that's only 4hp more than yours stock, Brock got 200.11hp STD with Alien Head, MR9, no filter, PC3, 0 weight oil, his zx14 with Alien Head made 197hp just for comparison, sounds like you got a real good one and should do 210hp easy if your numbers and SAE or STD's are correct.

Bently, you da man. Good to have someone that has had both and report what they really have done/seen. Even though you're a busa man, at least you seem to be straight up with this data. Thanxs for that.

warbird, I bet that 9.18 was with the 14 modified!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Brent..............Yeah, that is what he said in the above post. The 14 modified.........189.8. The Busa stock.........188.5. That is why I think the numbers are STD for the Busa and SAE for the 14................. That's why I asked him what he thought...............cause it makes sense to me. On another note................you know I think your 14 is one of the very nicest out there...................that being said I think you should keep your beautiful 06 and get the best turbo kit you can for it...................

Yeah Warbird, you are correct on me keeping the damn thing now man. I called and talked to several turbo kit makers and Terry at Mr. Turbo definately seemed to impress me more than any of the other two companies so far. He told me of his kit parts, the past turbo failures that went out on some of the kits, your upgraded fuel pump for the stage I kit and other things like that. He even told me of the shorter rod/piston kits that they have with ported heads and all BUT for me, I have to do just the turbo kit first and he said that at 6 psi, 250+ HP is there all day and your motor will be safe with 93 octane fuel. His kit comes complete with a power commander alrady mapped as well. You just buy the kit, bolt it on and go.

Damn, I mis-read what Bently posted and yes that is a high dyno number for the busa against the 14 modified......wow if that is all true but the track will tell and I am sure Bently will too.

Bently said both dyno runs were STD .... While i believe Bently bike made 188 just like he said i call into question the dyno readings .... Brocks STD reading were around 177 and a we others have dyno'd their 08 busa showed 174 to 177 all STD readings ...That's a big big difference ..That's 11 hp over the other bikes tested at STD ...Like i said i believe what Benty said because i know him to be a truthfull guy , i'm just calling the dyno into question ..
The only way to really know is to put a 08 zx14 and a 08 Busa same day same dyno and see what happens...If the zx14 makes 175 and the busa makes 188 stock on Bentlys dyno we all would be running down to the zooky dealer and buying one ASAP !!!! Smokin..

Brent i'm glad you talked to Terry about the stage one kit...I had heard the same thing about the problems about the stage one kit ...I'm glad to know that terry is on the case and the problem have been fixed ... Looks like i may be heading that way myself .. Once we have a turbo kit we have not need to worry what a 08 busa or zx14 makes on the dyno because we can just turn up the boost !!! lol... My zx14 is like brand new and has been trouble free and i just can't see spitting out 4 to 5 grand to get a new busa or zx14 for a few extra ponys ...Hell for 4 grand we can have all the HP we can stand ..Smokin..

I did read your post...................that's why I asked, maybe the Busa numbers were std and the 14's sae? Now I know you were 4 inches over and had a strong head wind. So I am asking...........does 1.3 hp difference, stock wheelbase and the headwind = 7/10's? No bs ing here, I am genuinely curious. 189 sounds right for the 14 with pipe/ pcIII, 188 sound about 10 high for the Busa stock. That's why I thought maybe the 14 dyno run was in sae, and the Busa std. Does my question make sense?

You gotta take into consideration I was riding the Busa like shit fighting 1 2 3 gear wheelies and never came anywhere close to wide open in first gear. My 14 ran on average of 150 mph getting to wide open before 1 2 shift. The Busa ran almost 145 with the head wind and my buddy was off 3.5 to 4 mph from what he normally runs so add 3.5 to my 144.5 and that would be 148 not getting the throttle opened up so the hp is close just like the dyno says. The 14 was in STD as well. I only made 5 runs on the busa and I hate to say it but I was riding poorly. That 150 with the 14 was also with the fuel light on and synthetic oil. the Busa was over half full So I'm telling like it is. No B.S. I've seen Sv 650s make 69 to 70 hp, My zx 10 made 174 with thin head gasket and cams degreed in with mild head work. My old Busa made 169, I've seen cbr1000s make 140 all on this Dyno. My Buddy is going to try and get his Busa on the dyno in the coming week to see where his is at. But in Iowa we could have snow next week..

Thanks............ I come through your area all the time on the way to Charles City. My friend lives in New Hampton ( truck driver also ) and if the chance presents itself I would like to come to the race track ( Cedar Falls Raceway right? ) and watch a day of racing. I may end up in the Glenwood area myself..........there is a roadrace track there with karting facilities and a 1/8th mile drag strip to boot. Looks like good practice grounds for my son. He is almost ready to get started with his gearhead training............... So........do you have snomobiles????
