HiMile @ Daytona
Hi All,
Checking in with what I hope is an interesting report. I spent the day in Daytona and I had a chance the ride the KLR650 and the C-14 today, and my impressions were 180 degrees apart.
I 'll start with the C-14, man did I have high expectations for this bike but after I rode it for 1/2 hour I have to admit I'm not ready for a sports Touring bike just yet. It's not the bike it's me (famous last words eh) I wanted to love this bike like I wanted to love the ZZR-1200 but the love just was not there. The shaft drive I believe is the best in/on the market bar none, the VVT was flawless and she pulled hard right up to redline. I suspect that the cat-like reflexes of our beloved ZX-14 was just too much for the c-14 to over come, not to mention the heat, I hate to say it but the heat was an issue. In a nutshell if I had a job a little closer to home I would look for a ZX-14...yes even the SE version would work.

the lowers looked pretty good to me as well.

But if I were going to buy one it would have to look like this.

that purple black is beautiful in the sun, on an over cast day she pretty much looks black.
here is something interesting, the ninja 250,

The US gets a Carbed 250 with full fuel gauge

and the Euros get the FI version w/fuel lamp.

I suspect we will get the FI one day for those who might be interested in a 250 for someone, may pay to wait.
The ZX-10 looked better in person than it will here

similar set up as the 07

maybe a little too much so...

I really like the direction Suzuki is going with the nose of the bike

It's a pretty smooth set up.

You know after looking at that CBR1000 for a little while I started liking it's look, I think this is one bike that's going to take some time to get used to...OK maybe a lot of time but it looks cutting edge...

OK maybe edgy is not the proper word

it too has a butterfly valve....(I don't know how well it's shown/big hole) visible.

Then there is the bike I like best.

and then the one that stands the best chance of me getting one day

they call it silver but it's a lot closer to grey.
Well hope you all enjoyed the picks Oh yea the KLR650, that little bike kicked some serious ass, I have not ridden the old KLR in 2 years but I'm pretty sure I would not have done to the old bike what we did to the new bike. That baby handles very very well at 70 mph and Kawasaki did an excellent job killing the vibrations that kept the first KLR a hour to 1.5 hour riding bike.

I was hoping to, they only had the 07's for demo the 08's were only for show.
A friend of mine rode the 14 while I was riding the C-14 and his words fit best, "That's the REAL Deal " It's only been 2.5 months since I sold my 14 and I do miss her. Mark my words, if I ever get a job closer to home there is a serious chance that I will be buying another 14. Maintenance is not so bad riding 20-25K a year, when riding 40-50K a year, well the 14 it's just a little too expensive.
If you add what I put on the 06 VFR to 28,850 my old 14 would have almost 37,000 miles and she would not be 1.5 years old until Nov 4. Not to mention I've put 13K on the 02 VFR this year.
Still that black/blue paint on the 08 ZX-14 does do something for me.

Several people expressed an interest on the 250, I don't think I really gave that puppy a review, just a heads up on what's to come. As far as the KLR was concerned, hell we were just trying to keep up with the C-14's and I pushed that bike harder than I should have just trying to keep up...and I thought I did a pretty dam good job, those bastards on the c-14 were flying pretty good. Just giving credit where I thought it belonged.
As far as the VFR, fair enough that review was mis-placed here. Er-A I was not very kind to the C-14, so I have a little creditability there (he-he).
Thanks for thinking I was a reporter, I think that job would be bad ass.

don't take it that i'm beating on you.. i like other bikes and pics.. BUT just about every rag has good things to say about undesirable bikes ..but if you was able to keep up with a c14 on a KLR ..Then either ur a great rider .. or c14 riders sucked ...or c14 sucks ...or KLR one bad bitch ..

Hey Rob,
I remember talking with you about your VFR's in the '08 display tent. Wish I'd known you were himile14, it's always good to meet the folks from the boards.
Glad you enjoyed the rides.
