ZX14 - How can I turn off the Traction Control

A friend of mine's got a drag meet coming up (tomorrow morning!!) and we'ld like to turn off the traction control. Does anyone know how (without using 'Magic Boxes')???

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

don't know what you mean by traction control, but if you mean the weak low end power he's gonna have to pull the "flies". If he's a drag racer he will know what that is. Do a search on it. Lots of information.

OK, OK!!
My apologies, it's not my bike. He just called me up to ask me why he can't launch with it. I, being of the 4 wheeled dimwitted engineer type, thought it was ESP/ASR or some other Y2K castrator, typical of this day and age.
Now to the point;
Can someone tell me how to disconnect the sensor that tells the ECU which gear it's in? Or will this be no good?
Could I feed it varying resistances to fool it that it's in 6th?

Many thanks and excuse my 2 wheeling ignorance, PLEASE. LOL

Aviv

Ivan at Ivan's performance makes a tre 008 that does what your talking about. do a search and then call his shop. The best result are by pulling the secondary butterflies (flies) in the throttle bodies. If you search this site you will get alot more information regarding this and your idea. I do believe your idea has been tried before. The search function works good here. The problem he's having is the flies do not open till @6k -7k rpm. So he is gonna have to pull them or slip the hell out of clutch to keep the rpm's above this level. I am no dragracer but alot of people on this site are,and damn good one's from the times that they are posting. so do a search and you will get all the info you will need and more

Flies out makes no difference in drag racing...he has to launch at 5K or more to overcome the flies...many of the guys here who race, don't even bother removing the flies. You can launch at lower speeds by removing the flies though. Ivan's TRE008 is not required. If your buddy wants, he can just pull the flies and add a PC3 with a map to fix the lean spot. That will allow him to launch at sub 5K speeds, easily and you don't need to disable the gear indicator, uness you're going for top speed; it has no effect on launching in any case.

use this to remove the johnson rod located below the torpinamate just above the wheel... be forwarned... traction control will be permanently disabled and the dealer won't help you reconnect it. Tampering with this function will void your warranty.

its the weekend everyone has the nitrous turned up

seriously i think you were referring to the restrictions implemented by the ecu in the form of secondary butterfiles restricting airlfow at lower rpms. when the throttle input from the rider occurs the primary butterflies in the fuel injectors open in sync with throttle input, but the secondary butterflies wait for the computer to tell them to open, giving you a soft bottom end. this doesn't happen until 6-7000 rpm and then all hell breaks loose. when you remove the secondary butterflies it returns complete throttle control to the rider and gives you another 35 ft/lbs of torque at about 3-4000 rpms, quite a jolt. removing the secondary butterflies and remapping with a power commander will effectively eliminate traction control as you put it.
