Changed heading to another broken frame, and forgive me but when a safety issue comes up I feel it dose not matter how many times it's posted. It should be put in front of people until HKI does something about it...

Wheres the dealers that post on here.I have set back an watched this play out because one frame pictured early this summer, an one that may have broken chances where just a fluke. I think we can all agree now this is a problem. I know there's lots of 14's out there in all different states of tune being ran/raced /wheelied an what ever, hell i own two.But to have two bikes break at the same place on frame an breaks are practicly a mirror of each other is not a fluke. Kaw knows there's a problem thats why they changed the process of how the 08 frames are made,an nobody will make me believe otherwise. I have been in this buss. for thirty years and have seen some shit fly under the radar by factory defects an not just by khi but this is going to get some one hurt or worse. Time to stand up philla's its not a brand thing no ones nocking kaw, This is an us as riders thing. Sorry for the rant but i dont want to see any headlines tom. or next week about this,we all know what the media will do for us no matter what bike it happens on.... bill at cannon cycles...

odd how kawasaki has changed the way they make the frames on the 2008's.....

khi says to save weight and make it stronger. I'm guessing the frames weigh damn near the same. So why stronger? Is there a possible flaw in the older frames?

The Conspiracy continues.....

I feel that KHI needs to pull in all 06/07 ZX14 and fix the problem before they are forced to do so. It my cost them something now but maybe alot later. We all need to stick beside each other and send letters to KHI before it turns ito a class action...

Not to downplay this, but... Before the Internet was as ubiquitous as it is now, there were random horrific failures of all types happening to bikes out there, and you would never hear about it. A handful of frame weld failures are not going to change anything for YOU. Yes, it is worthwhile to clean and very carefully inspect this area on your own bike, but even if it was going to break tomorrow you may not see anything anyway.

Shit happens, and that is all there is to it. Even with robotic modern welding facilities there are variables involved that make every single bike a little different. Add people to a production system and the differences are off the map. Welding will never be an exact process - put 200hp through the frame of 10,000 bikes and a couple of them will see something break, whether it be from fatigue due to circumstances at production, unique vibratory harmonics specific to that bike/rider/conditions, etc.

The other thing to consider is that engineering and design is never perfect - it is as good as it needs to be to make something cheap and turn a profit. Like they say about the space shuttle - 50,000 parts all made by the lowest bidder.

I agree somethings are going to break but not the backbone of the bike, Maybe there are 10,000 ZX14 out there and if there was not a problem why are they changing the frame on the 08s. No this kind of problem is wrong . oregon blue was not in anyway pushing his bike at the time it happened, as I was right i front of him on my 14. Maybe we were do 40-45 at most and hit the same pot hole and I'm not talking about a pot hole that could swallow a car. The frames on the most powerful motorcycle on earth should not fail no matter what...

It's not the big cracks that get ya, it's the microfractures. Unlike steel, Aluminum has very little modulus elasticity, and repeated shock over its stress limit will result in failure (strain rate and endurance limit.) There might have been some weak casting in that area, voids, etc or higher stress than was anticipated on that section. It might have been better for Kawasaki to have made that section from a CNC block and had the cast section welded to it.

Really guys you need to shoot off and email to KHI and let them know how you feel about this ....Post the link to this site in your email ....If everyone with an 06 07 zx14 sends an email to KHI we may force a recall to update our frames to 08 frames ...Nobody has got hurt so far that we know of BUT you maybe the first one to end up in a body cast or dead ...

Two zx14s have broken frames that we know of and pictures of the damage as proof.. There are lots of zx14 owners that don't post on the web so there maybe more frames like these two ..Stand back and do nothing and KHI will do nothing ..Come one guys make some noise !!!! Smokin...
