aquisition of husqvarna to BMW complete!

Ok I know its off topic...
But have high hopes that BMW will turn this legendary motorcycle company around!

In 1988 Husky went bankrupt, Cagiva bought out the remainder and began operating Husky .
Unfortunately the Italians were using sub standard parts like marzochi and sachs shocks...

If BMW is smart they will return Husky to the ohlins suspension department...

For the young crowd.... Husqvarna was one of the leaders in dirtbike racing in the '70's.

A Husky used to be a MAN's bike. The tanks and seats had 2 recesses molded in them to accommodate the big balls of the riders. It will be interesting to see what BMW does with them - I'm think it will become a brand to compete with KTM.

just finished reading a euro bike mag (2wheel?) and they say that bmw is trying to appeal to the under 40 croud.... they might tap husky for a super motard idea or two.....the guys from the mag went to an all bmw fest in germany and confirmed that at least they know about beer, but the bikes were ho-hum... at least they are trying

BMW plans to enter a 4 cylinder bike in 2009 WSB.

To meet homologation requirements, they plan on releasing a ~200hp/~200kg bike maybe this next year.

It'll be interesting to see how they do...

Latest dirt bike magazine has info on ther prototype mx/ offroad bike they have been developing over the past 2-3 years, and now testing in competition.
I would guess they are going to use th Husky factories, and trade name to bring it to market.
The all new BMW dirtbike has quite few breakthrough developments....
Should be interesting....

sorry , yes it is off topic but pretty quiet over here anyway....
