New busa 08. Fast?
Made me think that the new busa may actually be quicker than we think, why?
Well we all know that they only did 2 runs, and the 9 second run was launched at 1500 revs!!!!
Let me ask you ; Can a 14 run in under 10s. when launched at those revs? definately not,not even close!
and neither will any other production bike for that matter. it may take time to get used to launching the new busa but when people learn watch out!! and by the way the same rider (Brock)only went 10.30's on a zx14 the first 3 runs ,so like it or not the new busa will walk
14 even the k8 model which has got only a marginal power increase and more weight.

Actually Brock said that his fastest day 1 time on the 14 was a 9.98 so your a little off there. And on top of that, the busa was launched at such low revs because of whatever type of clutch they use. It makes it diffulcult as hell to launch like a normal bike. So the only way to speed up those times would be to use an aftermarket clutch. And Thats where the real test of the two bikes will begin. No one leaves their bike stock very long. So it will be up to whatever bike responds the best to the aftermarket that will be crowned the king.
But to reply directly to your statement, the 14 (even the 06/07 model) is faster stock for stock than the new busa. If you modify then busa you gotta modify the 14 too to make it fair. And Ryan Schnitz already proved that with under $1000 you can make the 14 run well into the 9.3's with only a full muzzy, PC3, strapped and lowered. Can the busa do the same? Only time will tell. My guess is probably not.
And I'm willing to bet, that if you pulled the flies on the 14 (a no cost mod, that would still make the bike completely stock) you could launch at 1500 and still run in the 9's.

while I do NOT think that the 06/07 14 is or will be as fast as the new busa I think the 08 14 and the new busa will be dead even

Nope, His fastest day 1 time on the busa was 9.98 (first run ever). the 14 was 3runs of 10.30's
And surely any bike that can run 9,s or even 10,s with a 1500 launch is insane.

I like how guys compare HP and qtr mile times from two totally different days and possibly two different locations!!
The numbers are only for reference!! Nothing is concrete until both bikes are lined up fairly on the same day!!

LET'S JUST WAIT AND SEE. I don't have a bike at the moment, I sold my 02 busa and 94 zx 11 last year. 9.87 lowered and straped. You are probably faster than me but my point is rider for rider bike for bike I bilieve the new busa will be SLIGHTLY faster. Why would a company make a bike slower than it's rival? Time will tell. Perhaps because they couldn't produce a bike that is faster and still conform to Euro III emissions? Look at the ZX-12R and Hayabusa. ZX-12R had the bigger cams, bigger valves, more RPM, etc.... but they had to put a catalytic converter in the midpipe so it would pass the emission standards of it's day. Look what happend when a pipe/remap is done on both the ZX-12R and Hayabusa.... the 12R puts out 10rwhp more on average at peak and holds it all the way to the rev limiter. Same can be said about the Hayabusa and it's tiny cams. Throw a set of Yosh cams in a Busa (which are the size of the stock 12R cams) and you've got a monster.
Like someone said, The true test of these bikes will be when we see which one responds better to light modifications like exhaust/cams/headwork/compression.

1) Brock was fastest of all the testers there, bar the 9.95 right at the end. I am sure many of them launched at many different revs and couldn't beat Brock's time.
2) Brock said he hadn't been on a stock bike for a long time when he tested the 14 and that it was "embarrassing"
3) The best tester on the 14 hit 9.74 @ 147, along way out from 9.95 @ 144.
4) Numerous testers did 9s on 14s, not just 2 like the Busa test.
4) The 14s test was done at 3500feet, a full 1000+ feet above the altitude of the Busa test..
5) To correct a poster above, Ryan Schnitz got 9.17 out of the lowered and piped 14 still with flies in etc. Busa will have to haul to pull that............at 3500 feet!!!!!!!!!!!

kudos to the first guy to put a 14 engine into a 250 Ninja with a 18" extension. That will be the king and you all will have to buy one,no matter how ugly. Or you can just race the bikes you got now relying on skill and practice to smoke the noobs on there "superior" bikes. And yes, I am a 1/4 mile noob But I ran a 60' on my TL1000R at 1.6 seconds though. But only ran a 10.4 time. I assume that is good for a TLR with a guy weighing just over 300 with gear on. gotta love those vtwins with a TRE and -1, +3 sprocket set on it + some other mods. I just gotta work on timing those lights: there's SO MUCH MORE to do on a bike to get it right compared to my automatic equiped Camaro. I was surprised how bad my reactions were, specifically the variance. I wont mention those times

Lets examine exactly what you are saying. With the flys in on the 14 it makes it super easy for a rookie to launch. Will they bog down? Yeah probably but they will still launch. And it will be easier for them to launch. For the Busa its been proven that the clutch they have makes it super hard to launch. So which bike can a rookie or novice racer launch on? And a better launch will make a faster bike because both bike will get up and haul ass down the track once they get going.

Thats a good point. But what I dont understand is the new busa has basically the same clutch as the old one, and it wasn't that hard to launch. Maybe those extra 23hp are making some difficulties. I and no one knows for sure yet, time will tell. Stay in touch with Brock he will shoot you a straight line. I know his inicial comments about the busa were very positive. Comparisons will come I promise you. {peace the troll} HA!
