Is there enough changes on the 08 model worth trading in my 06??

Alright the pics are out now and besides the obvious paint changes and some minor upgrades not sure if its worth changing my 06. I know i'm goin to loose a bundle on it and not goin to get my money back for the brocsk's/pc combo either. Usually every year I upgrade bikes but since the 14 nothing really interested me unless i went back to 1000's. Considering the money i know i'm goin to loose in a trade in I mite do what one member on another thread said TURBO baby. and from my previous trade in losses or selling losses a turbo is pretty close or the same and no pipe/pc on the 08 is goin to make up for a turbo? So who's got good info on turbos??

Don't waste your $$. Keep the 06.
There simply is not enough of a performance increase. Everyone who thinks one mfg. is going to suddenly pull out all the stops and leapfrog the other is sadly delusional. They will cat and mouse for years.

If you did get a new one why wouldn't you just put the stock exhaust on the 06 then sell it? Put the Brocks on the new one.
I learned my lesson. Keep stock parts and return the bike to as close to stock as you can when you sell it. The sell the aftermarket stuff.

I just read the article. I've been wanting to trade mine but between the new busa' and the new 14, I'll keep my '06 ZX14 yet another year. maybe a new litre bike is in the works for me but I'm in no hurry

I'm torn on this also ...On the one hand all my Brocks stuff will fit the new zx14 , that a plus for sure.. On the other hand there is not a damn thing wrong with my 06 and the friggin thing runs 8s in the 1/4 mile right now ...

Turbo my 06? 5k.... Trade my 06 in for an 08 4k maybe ?

I think i will have to wait till Brocks get one and see what the real power is, if it a big jump modded then i may just have to trade up ... If it's not a big jump i'll keep my 06 ,I'm very happy with my 06 and will keep it for another year or so ...

I think we should all wait till we see the new HP and Torq numbers before jumping the gun...Hell RG said it has more power ...Brock said he heard it had new power everywhere ..One thing i know for sure is i will not get a 08 Busa, i just can't stand that rear end on that bike...The more i see it the more i hate it ... There is nothing out there right now that would make me want to give up my 06 zx14 -----------unless it's an 08 zx14 with much more power ...lol....

Yes........there are a lot of changes...........we just need to see what the results are when Brock gets a hold of one like smokin said. Surely they have the fly's opening sooner and faster.........that alone would up the low and midrange hp/tq figures. Injector angle, porting changes, timing...........I think all will be good............. It won't be long before it's on the dyno..............

I did keep all my stock parts but figure get the most money for this bike already set up. I did read all the new changes on it Smokin but for someone like myself who is not a racer the 6=10 hp really isn't goin to make that much of a difference and i've already have that with the brock's. Now for someone like yourself who races that extra power will help no doubt. Still to me the single most important improvement that they could have made was drop the weight 20 or 30 lbs somehow. So far i haven't had a single problem with this bike, no overheating at all, no leaks or anything. I know a 2 yr old sportbike is not worth much to my dealer as a trade in, I know i'm goin to loose easy 4 or 5 thousand so turbo probably or next best thing new 10R. Thanks for the imput!!

I have the 06 14. Not enough changes in 08 for me to change. Maybe in a couple of years. Where in the hell is Kaw getting all these ridiculous color schemes?! That Spark/Black color scheme is ugly as hell. I would have to get the silver or midnight blue. As far as performance, I'd like to see Kaw make changes to the fuel injectors like Suzuki did as far as dual injectors per cylinder. Do that to the 1352 engine and that in itself would keep the 14 ahead of the new Busa from a performance standpoint. Dual injectors seems to be the new wave in technology.

I'm thinking of getting the black one, swapping my plastics, exhaust and PC3 and selling the 06 with the black plastics on it. :-? Thought about getting the blue, but black will always sell.

+1

major weight drop would've made an impression on me too. I'm with you, a few ponies out of the box doesn't factor for me to trade.

i intended to sell my '06 after one year but didn't yet. I've been liking the red bike and have kept it longer than any bike I've owned.

I'm keeping mine, I'm not feeling the new colors and i would lose too much on mine.
Surely someone has a reliable aftermarket package that will compete with a modded 08.

still does'nt impress me.the way yours runs i would'nt worry about the measley 7 hp.gain.the injector angle is what impresses me.most of the stuff in the kaw web site is the same thing they had last year repeated.it's so close it would come down to rider experience and weight.just mt opinion.bill

max torque number are the same for all 3 years . I am not sure there is anything to be gained if you have a pipe and pc and flies out.
