I didn't submit this post just to participate in a pissing contest. I'm sure there are many forums that are better suited to it. I was under the impression that riders help other riders, when help is sought? If you were sitting next to me in a bar,....... hell I'd probably buy another round of beers, and laugh my guts out. Any chance we can get back to the question??? If it's been asked, and answered, then fair enough!!!

It's all good sweetfa65, I apologize if I was rude man. I seriously wasn't meaning to be a dick in my 1st post. If you heard me say it in person, you would know by my tone. By your last post you seem like a good guy, so I'll drop the pissing contest. Good luck on your trip.

"Yeah" Your right its a tech forum... Just pissing in the wind and it came back and hit me so i was mad...Really never had a problem riding to cali from washington and back(2200 miles) without any lube on the chain, besides there less than 200 bucks and they never or almost never fail. But hey you put a alarm on your bike and thats a waste of money so why are you so concerned about a chain. Again "Lube" Roll "Lube"

Alright, so I'm a big softy. I'll put the sword back in it's sheath. BTW Jeff, congrats on the new bike, very nice. Mine's only a few months old too.
Ok..... I get it, "lube, roll, lube". Now for the naive question. The chain should be lubed from inside & out, right? With the L/H intermediate pipe glowing hot, there's not much room to get the lube nozzle inside without getting it all over the wheels, or just doing a few inches at a time. In 25 years of riding, I've always had a centre stand, and on this bike, I'm just not seeing it. What am I missing?
BTW: Way too much time on my hands, & it actually works.

lube the rollers.. the rest is sealed in o-rings... Just lube the rollers will reduce the wear on the sprocket,,and keep heat down...If you lube the sides of the chain you are wasting your time...

Thanks for that :-) That's the thing, you can't ride off and forget it. Errrrr......, the back wheels not on the ground !!!
I've spat my dummy out anyway and got a centre stand coming from the US (only $200.00 AU), just so I can polish my wheels at night, while polishing off a few bevies. Oh no..... how stupid do I feel now? I could just polish, roll, polish :-)
There you go, that's left the door wide open !
I can't believe difference between the price of spares in US, compared to over here. What a friggin' rip-off !!!
