Stock 14 ran near identical numbers and mph first day. It's at 3500 feet. The best 14 first day was 9.9 @144.

Second day the journos were down at 9.76 @ 147. on the 14 (Adjusted for sea level - 9.46 @ 152)

The lowered and piped 14 did 9.17 @ 151 (straight, not adjusted for sea level).

It's going to be close. Like 2000, it'll be down to rider.

Well until the new 14 comes out.

You are crazy......The best time for the new busa was a 9.95. The 14 was down into the 9.7's the first day. Granted suzuki didn't get any ringer for its intro like kawi did with schnitz and gadson but the fastest time was only a 9.95. The 14 was well into the 9.7's the first day. It won't be close at all. The 14 that gets intro'd in a few days will stomp all over this weak bike.

The 14 will rule the streets! Its about time people come off that "the new busa is coming" excuse and realize that the 14 is a better bike. I see14 sales jumping 10 fold in the next few months.

Looks to me that it's going to be a draw 06 07 zx14 Vs 08 busa..... Let see what Brocks Mods do for it ...If anyone can make it fly it will be Brock ...

We should know next week what the new 08 zx14 has in store for the busa ...I'm betting on another home run for the zx14 ... Smokin..

I totally agree with Smokin, I like to compare apples to apples, when Brock rode the totaly stock 14 ,he ran 3 10:30's ;It's then i believe he straped it to go 9:70 @142MPH. Now the 08 Busa has run 9:98 without a strap(with the same rider,"Brock") @ 144mph. Mph always show HP ,It's pulling on the back end. This is what i see as of now,. But i'm like Smokin i want to see after Brock does his things to them & with him riding it & compare against the 14 that he rode in 06 (DIARY). I do believe KAW will make final minor adjustments to stay out in front of the Busa.

Forgettin' the 12R AGAIN..................this is from Motorcyclist Mag. specs online......

Ninja ZX-12R ('00) 162.7 @ 10,000 93.7 @ 7500 9.96 @ 142.3 3.23 547 6/00
Ninja ZX-12R ('02) 161.4 @ 10,000 91.3 @ 7750 9.87 @ 146.29 3.17 547 29.5/18.2/2.6 9/02

Hayabusa ('99) 156.1 @ 9500 99.0 @ 6750 10.34 @ 140.8 2.70 550 6/99
GSX1300R Hayabusa ('03) 156.1 @ 9500 99.0 @ 6750 9.88 @ 143.9 2.70 550

Ninja ZX-14 ('06) 175.7 @ 9550 106.2 @ 8050 9.76 @ 144.78 3.00 563 29.4/17.8/4.3 7/06

The 12 was a match for the old Busa..................the 14 stomps it..............

Looks to me like the 14 has no equal...........unless the 08 Busa can get a little closer. Even then it will need clutch work............ The 14 has MUCH better brakes, ( rotors, Master Cyl ) MUCH better clutch setup it seems..........better looks.....................I just don't see the threat....................

how do you know it has better brakes as these bike have not been tested against each other.we will see back to back test same day and same rider which is quicker and faster on top speed.btw the 99 busa been 9.86 at 146 with 160hp.that busa got out the whole quick.the new busa may need clutch its looks like the 08 is harder to launch.

The 14 has better braking components period................better rotors............a radial master cyl. ( the busa hung on to it's old style master cyl for the front brakes AND clutch....) The 14's brakes are some of the best ever attatched to ANY bike..............grab a handful sometime............

cool...............I didn't leave anything out............I just copied and pasted Motorcylist's info..........
There are millions of times and speeds. I was just quoting one source. The SAME source for all three bikes...........would you like me to quote smokin's best time with no NOS? No Busa EVER went that quick with the same equipment with ANY rider. The 14 is obviously superior.............from novice to professional ...............it's simply easier to get on and ride fast......................

The bikes are so damn close, it will always be the rider that makes the difference here. You're all starting to sound like the guys on the Busa boards. I prefer my 14 to the old Busa for a lot of reasons, like brakes, comfort, ride and handling, but the mighty Busa is and will always be a major force to be reckoned with. Never forget that, because when you do, it'll blow right by you. For most of the bench racers here, it's all about the numbers (yawn), but the Busa will hold it's own any day of the week against the 14 and can blast most riders from here to kingdom come, no matter what year it may be. I've ridden and owned both and both are truly awesome and fearful machines, but let's not stoop down to the same level as the guys on the Busa boards...

Who's stoopin'?................. I bought a brand new 2000 model Busa and loved it. I also bought a 2000 model 12R at the same time. I liked the 12 better.................. I sold the Busa and bought another 12. I'm not arguing...........just stating facts. The 06/07 14 is superior to the 99/07 Busa out of the crate in everyway...................And what's with the benchracer comment?????

The old Busa and the 12R were damn close................as close as you can get. The comparison ALWAYS goes to the old Busa vs the 14................I don't agree.............the NEW Busa and 14 will probably be just the same performance wise. Then it just comes down to personal preference and rider talent.................just like it did with the 12R and original Busa.

You guys are funny.

This 08 Busa is a BAD BITCH. The stock drag strip numbers mean nothing... it's a joke to try to ET one of these things up in the air with spongy forks no strap and the mirrors on. Hell my bike had a passenger seat and grab rail?! Add the same clutch as the 99-07's and...well it's a BIG joke.
(FYI: we have sold many thousands of Busa ultra-clutch mods for a reason...)

I never ran a 10 ANYTHING with my ZX-14 completely stock.... but my best pass properly set-up with a bolt-ons is 9.20@154+MPH , stock wheelbase, foot shifting. It just made 195 HP a year later set up like Chip Ellis rode it at Gainesville 2006. It's a good bike and I like it very much.

The stock Busa horsepower IS an indication of things to come and don't be surprised if everything we know about how fast a bolt-on bike will go is SHATTERED very soon. My guess is 205 RWHP (+?!) HP and eight seconds set up like above at Gainesville 2007 with a serious jockey.

**BUT** as much as guys want to compare the 14 with the new Busa...it might not be very fair at this point since the current ZX-14 is TWO YEARS OLD and we still haven't seen what Kawasaki has in store for 2008. They are not dummies and I'm sure they don't plan on leaving well enough alone in the face of this new threat from their ONLY other competitor in the stupid-fast bike market.

The bottom line is this; we are living the 'good ol days' of muscle cars, kz900's and GS1150's... MODERN DAY....RIGHT NOW!

Enjoy it.

Brock
Brock's Performance

Ps. I will be adding to our 2008 Busa dragbike.com tests from now until after AMA/Prostar Gainesville 2007. I hope to get my hands on a 2008 ZX-14 at some point very soon. I would LOVE to set them both up identical and have at it!

Thanks Brock for the update. I do hope the new '08 14 will out perform the new busa though. I just basically have a hate for the busa or anything suzuki makes even though I grew up on suzukis as my first bike.
