I would start with the steering head bearing and see that it is adjusted properly.

Yep that was my problem. I noticed the bike 'shifted' as I leaned either left or right from center. It was almost a thump but not quite. On the gas hard coming out of the corner it would do it again, very unsettling. Couldnt get it to do it at all when I was stopped or when I had front end hoisted, would only do it under load. I took off the top triple clamp and readjusted the steering head spanner nuts about 1 1/2 full turns to snug (don't know the torque). Seems to be fine now, but steering is a little heavier which is probably good since there aint no damper on the 14.

Yeah my friend (a bike mechanic) thought it was the rear initially too. Hope it's something simple and DO NOT STOP until you find it because you never want to ignore something involving the suspension/tires. you only got 2!

well we riped her down last night and we could not find anything loose, so i took it for a quick ride and it seemed normal and i could not get it to reproduced the vibrations, so i will keep playing with it till it does it again.
