Dynojet HUB and LCD software

Has anyone been able to download the new software without having the PC#usb reprogrammed?

I'm fuckin pissed!

I live in a remote area, local stealer prob doesn't even know what PC3 is, nevermind own a programmer!

I have bought all this equipment, and can't even switch maps for the nitrous, nevermind trigger it or the shifter in auto because of the " new" fuckin software won't download.

Ummmm not good. I am to about to playing with all this later this week, but really dont know what to tell you on it.

I do know that the PCIII has to have a particular firmware, and i believe you can download it from their site.

Pulled from DynoJets Site:

To determine your current firmware version go to VIEW - POWER COMMANDER INFO in the Control Center software. If your current firmware is version 1.0.0.20 or higher then you can update your firmware by going to POWER COMMANDER TOOLS - UPDATE FIRMWARE. The firmware needed for use with the Hub can be downloaded from the enclosed CD or our website, www.powercommander.com.

If your firmware version is 1.0.0.19 or lower then you will need the firmware programmer to update your PCIII USB. This programmer can be found in some Ignition Modules or the HDREV kit. You can also purchase part #PCPROG which will give you all the necessary software and hardware to update your Powercommander.

Just curious, when you turn your ignition to hot without actually turning the bike on, does the LCD light up for you ?

I have one of the LCD units and had the same problem as you are experiencing. I'm not good with computers so I called Dynojet and told them of my problem. They told me everything I needed to do and it took only a few minutes. Works fine now.

I remember having a hard time loading maps before and Brock told me to load them on to the desk top instead... low an behold I did it with the new firmware and it seems to have worked..

At least it didn't come up as error code 32769 this time.....when resetting device.

2 step launch limiter, shift light and damper installed today, swingarm and ohlins shock, ss lines, chain and sprokets, tiger undertail last few days.... once i get the pc , hub and lcd figured out I can tie up the wiring on the tprs-002, NOS and shifter.... can't wait.

whoo hoo!

I think it would.
Since i have been routing wires everywhere, and making space for all the switchgear and controllers, I removed it from the bike, and used the 9volt battery as the instructions state.

I have been really taking my time and making the install really clean, and wiring right , soldered connections, shrink tubing, etc.
no splices to factory harness= additional wiring and connectors

i had to update the firmware on the pclll before it would see the lcd, using 9v battery. bike power cuts off guring the update if you try it that way it bones you.

Did you have to reflash the new firmware with the dynojet programmer, hooked to the PC3usb?

Or is there any other way... ?

I might as well order the programmer if i HAVE TO SHIP IT OUT.
Shipping is very slow to the region, and UPS 2 ways would cost almost as much as the new equipment.

OK,

Thought I would share some learnings, and save some people the headaches.
For some reason the new software download would not coincide witht the old software initially, nor could it detect the location of the firmware updates on the mini cd automatically or load them manually.

I got fed up and unistalled all dynojet software on my pc, and any maps etc associated.
Reset my PC 3usb, and dumped the saved settings and map as well.

I then reinstalled the inital software that came with the pc3 usb on my pc.(large cd)
Then I installed the software updates in the same file.(small cd)

Then I got a new 9v battery, and hooked the hub, lcd and pc3 together, and finally plugged it all into my computer

Finally i got the new firmware to load properly, had to do it manually still but it loaded and the new firmware updates finally.

Loaded 2 maps, adjusted the accel pump, and the rest must be done while on the bike.

Will set the output channels once the digikill timing, and a/f ratio's are confirmed in manual operation....

Woo hoo....
Back to the fun part.... the tools!

Glad to get that shit behind me, I like the tools better than a computer!

I don't use the 9v battery anymore on mine.
Seems that on our ZX14's when the key is on, the PC will power up for a second then shut off. So the 9v battery is needed. (I noticed on my friend's snowmobile that the key just needed to be on only).

BUT, if you start the bike and let it idle, the 9v battery is NOT required. So for map changing, or anything except the TPS setting, I wouldn't worry about the 9v battery.

I now leave my USB cable plugged into the PCIII and tuck it up under the cowl. Saves me having to remove the 3 screws and yank that cowl off every time I play with my maps.

Just my 02c's worth....

To reload the new firmware, the ignition must be turned off, so the battery was required.
Additionally I had the assmbly removed, going to reinstall it in the front cowl"nose cone" this time with usb cable left hooked up as well. Need more space for other components under the seat now.

Have you found a quality plug to keep the usb connector ater tight and clean?

"To reload the new firmware, the ignition must be turned off, so the battery was required."

if you have the bike on during a firmware load it shuts the bike of mid load, true the 9v battery must be used.
it took some dorking around but i got the pc to do the firmware update thru the pc software, no programmer needed unless you have an old harley pc

I just checked at "The Source" and they had no clue what I was talking about.

I suppose you could use an old extension and cut the wire off....I wonder if they sell a cheap extension?

I used a piecce of electrical shrick wrap, 3/8" I believe, cut it 2 inches long, then heated up the one end and pinched it shut while the shrink wrap was hot and presto....
Its long enough to grab, good grip with knurled end from the pliers pinching it, and fits tight!
