The only thing that will certainly happen is some ECU changes + O2 sensor to meet the Euro3 emission limits. Without such changes the sales of the 14 for road use in EU will end at the end of December '07. Until that the 14s are sold under a rule allowing sales of 5000 units per year in EU if the bike meets Euro 2 limits. The manufacturers must declare the amount of each non-Euro3 model they're going to sell. Here's Kawasaki's version of such declaration:

I do use a tank bag, I'm forced to.
But the other part of the seat design thats a problem is.... have you been out riding, and while out with your bike decide to take a passenger? "hold on sweetie while I TAKE THE BIKE APART and honey do you mind if I put this cowl and screws on your seat LMAO I am SO SICK of that crap" but I deal with it all the time. People say buy a spare seat to avoid the screw ritual, but that isn't a solution for when I'm out on my bike and wanna' give someone a ride. My old ZX9 was awesome, the ladies busa I ride is awesome so I figure hey, maybe Kawasaki is capable of improving the seat design
If your out trolling for curb monkeys leave the seat cowl off. Its no different that a ZX12R or busa with a seat cowl on it. Either leave the cowl off, swap or buy an extra seat. I've ditched the cowl in a curb monkeys car more than once to them riding before.
Maybe you could rig up some pins with a small clevis pin so you wouldn't have to use tools to remove the cowl.

There is no real difference in The Busa seat, you either have the seat on or the Hump.

the design difference is the busa looks acceptable riding without the banana seat look, and another design difference being how to change from the seat to the hump "no assembly" required those two points are what I hope '08 addresses.
one requires 4 screws? one has a cowl good for nothing but looks allowing nothing under it?

Well, if Brock is helping kawi with the new 14, I'd say it's gonna be more powerful.

Do you really think Kawasaki and suzuki builds the Zx14 and the Busa for long trips, I don't
they have other bikess for that. Not that guys don't do long trips on them but they are not designed for that. Buy a concours if you want along distance bike.

I just got a call from a buddy of mine in New York he works for the ad company that handles Kawasaki and I was told that thier will be 2 versions the ZZR1400 which is what we all have now and a ZX14R at 1399cc's That was the only info he gave other then to say that Rickey Gadson posed for the print ad photos yesterday!! He is not a bike guy so he didnt really no a lot of details but he said that the two bikes that were at the photoshoot were two distinct and DIFFERENT bikes one was what he called Pumpkin Orange the other was was Black and Silver he called it two tone but from his description it sounded like a large rally stripe down the center

ZX14R<---that would be funny to put an "R" on a big sport-tourer bike, but I've seen many ask for KHI does just that too. It can be a pretend race track bike

Here's a kernel for you to chew steve: Our local track just had its annual 125mile open race (open to all). I couldnt go but my riding buddy Darrell went on his R1, and won it by quite abit. He spent the next 2 weeks dogging on the "track guys" at Pacific Raceways who never hit the street-something about inbred monkeys playing in a small pond etc... Anyways, last weekend I rode my 14 for the first time on one of our 'runs' and had him for lunch. He couldnt outcorner me, outrun me, and definitely couldnt outbrake me. He had a decent advantage in flicking thru switchbacks and I had him beat at all higher speed corners, especially a few declining radius surprises where both times he ended up in the oncoming lane. So stop dogging the 14, it just takes a wholly different riding technique to make it work fast in the corners.
Oh yeah gotta keep it on topic- the 08 14R needs a steering damper and slipper clutch, to drop about 30 pounds, and have the secondary flies open ALOT sooner. Voila!

I'm betting they just put a large fan in front of the ram-air duct when running it on the dyno. Where I come from they call that a Mazda gimp lol. Hopefully it's a ECU mod that we can transfer onto our older 14's. Personally I'd rather they spent the effort in lightening up the bike, if it dropped 15-20 pounds it would impress me more. I'll get my own extra power out of the engine, just do want I economically can't, shave some quick pounds! And no, I aint gonna put myself on a diet to save that weight, it was hard earned. Guess I can settle for more HP if I have too. BTW thats a statement you will only hear in a Kawi thread- can you imagine a RR or R1 owner saying that? they would kill for 7 more heh heh heh

My point is we have now heard from 3 people high up in the food chain , Brock , Youngmachine magazine and a kawi Rep that the zx14 has been updated with more power.....Its doesn't matter how they got it , just be happy we got it ...lol... It's looks to me that mother kawi is not going to let zook win the HP war .....

Interesting. Will we benefit with mods or will this be more or less the same route we have taken with our mods? I guess it will be ecu and maybe compression.

in the begining the specs on the bike were 13.5 comp. By the time we got it the compression was down to 12.1. That could give you 7hp

This will mean the 14 will be the first bike with 200hp at the crank.
If you remember, all the press releases just before K released the 14 said a tad over 200hp. Then, when it was released it fell a bit short. The 7 horses were probably a function of the fact it wasn't mapped as best it could be in stock configuration for outright power.
Until now, when the anticipated Suzi reaction has come.
