First Steve the Hayabusa IS THE BEST SELLING SPRT BIKE OF ALL TIME PERIOD!!!!!! second I agree with Smokin IF Kawi updates the ZX14 it will be a 1399 with 12.5/1 compression a little more agressive cams and a better head but will probably only see a Horsepower gain of around 5-6 HP due to stricter emissions BUT that translates inot MONSTER POWER when you put a full exhaust and PC and an ignition module with all bolt on mods I would see prolly 200-205 RWHP with NO motor changes!!

the new busa is the same as the old busa as far as motor design. word has it the old cranks and the old heads will interchange . suzuki only added a 2 mil stroke ,cleaned the head up and raised the compression

Mink you better read some more there's alot more updates then that, what about the new throttle bodies, the new air box, the new injectors and the new light weight valves and on and on. Yes suzuki kept the same block design which is a huge plus over the 14 as far as modding later, which would you rather do a big bore kit in.

great new air box , injectors ,throttle bodys. all im saying is the war between the busa and 14 will stay the same ,because there isnt many stock busas out there anymore. so these things including motor mods that suz is doing im already up against around here in indy riding the 14 .
no doubt it will be bad ass and easy to build but easy isnt always better if you like a challenge. and as far as building a 14 in my opinion bore size isnt the problem i tbink kaw will extend the stroke and fix the heating prob and then it will be busa 1 & 2 killer

Lot's of suggestions here but what's going to happen in reality? This is my bet. Kawasaki only have to pay attention to the ecu mapping to resolve the lack of low down power and give us some decent new paint jobs. Cost? virtually nothing. Effective? you bet.

Bobc I think your right on, everyone has wishfull thinking there will be big changes but when the sell as little as they do I don't think so. I think some new colors and a little remapping is all. Will that do much for peak hp, no I still don't think we will see New 14's and Busa's every 2 years like the 600's and 1000's. and bigtd kawasaki came out with a 1352 cc that can out run most 1397 busa's so don't you think suzuki can out run a 1352 with a 1340. it's possible not saying for sure it will happen but I always like the guys who start counting a bike out before it's even released. Hell the Busa guys did it with the 14 and now look at it, alot of them have switched over. Guess we won't know on the 14 until sept 23 or 24th.

yes i mentioned suzuki's success with the bike, but it was the only game in town of its kind. so to be fair take that big bike and the few Zx14's sold, total compare sales with total litre bike sales.... uhm you see the picture of which bikes sold...

I agree Steve 600's and 1000's are where the sales are, thats why at 10000 sales for Busa and 5000 sales for zx14 I don't see a 2 yr update war going on, but I maybe wrong.

I don't see big changes either...Perhaps ECU changes where the flies open earlier and some color changes...Perhaps some porting/compression changes...

Alot of folks have waited to buy a ZX14 to see how the new Busa would do against it...If the new ZX14 maintains its superiority over the new busa there could be a dramatic change in sales for the ZX14.

I still don't think zx 14 sales will go up much and I don't think they will ever out sell the Busa even if the 14 is faster. A Busa is still a Busa when I had my Busa people that knew nothing about bikes would talk to me about it because they saw it on tv or heard about from somewhere. When I had the 14 it's just another sportbike to average person.

Yeah and the Busa was just another sportbike when it first came out, until the media and governments gave it a bunch of hype over its power. Cha-ching! The 14 is working the normal ways to get that same name recognition right now, and it will, just give it time at the top. Unless the Busa breaks the 200hp barrier first. Then you might as well consign the 14 to permanent runnerup status in the eyes of most. Seriously, if the 14 isn't the first to cross that barrier it might as well start work on a ZX2000. Like what the Busa went thru when it came out, expect the governments to start growling about legislation and the media to absolutely jump all over how dangerous it is. With that storm of critism will come the long lines of people wanting and desiring to own one. Just like the Busa. Just watch and wait for that announcement, it will make or break the 14's historical significance.

Lol, you make such "big deal" about your dislike of the seat I have to give you grief about it.

But I hear ya, there sure isn't much storage space underneath.

My first day of riding my 14 I went to the video store and rented a video. Then I spend an increasing frustrated 20 minutes digging around the 14 trying to find a space big enough to hold ONE VIDEO. I couldnt even squeeze it under the rear seat cover. I finally shoved it down the crack of my ass and under my riding jacket to get it home, thoroughly peeved. A claimed "Sport Touring" bike that has ZERO storage. wow.
But on the ride home it sure hauled ass!

Hopefully it'll happen in '08- but I'm confident simple improvements to the seat shortcomings are coming one day. A "banana" seat with no storage and dissasembly required for a passenger can only be cool for so long

I see no problem with no storage inder the seat I would rather use a tank bag if I need to take some stuff with me. I will say the seat is ugly without the cowl.

i personally keep the cowl on 99% of the time. think it looks best on. when you pull the cowl it has more of an old school look. only for giving someone a lift.
i like the looks of the present 14 and wouldn't change a thing, except getting rid if the original rear fender/tag holder. the suzuki looks dated with the clunky mirrors gauges and turn signals. the new busa is not aesthetically pleasing(ugly) to me personally but everyone likes something different and thats cool.
as smokin said you got the fastest bike on the planet the ZX-14.

Valve train upgrade grades, springs, larger Ti valves , consider offering programmable software & ECU that is available for ZX10, kick up compression, secondary injectors(two per cylinder) , throttle body increase, possible 46 like zx12, extend current ECU rev limit to 12k, 3 spoke wheel construction, less wiegth hopefully. That my wish list

All I gotta say is the 14's still King but a couple of things I would change on the 14 is the heating problem many seem to complain about, I would add more compartment space, which every other bike but the 14 seems to have, bring back the candy wine red color that was on the ZX-11(prettiest factory bike color ever in my opinion), give the temperature gage a number indicator instead of bars and last but not least, like Smoke said, make it a true 14 by going 2 mil over, or in my own words, giving it a longer stroke, which the Busa has over the 14. This in itself would increase the power and torque across the board with either mod.

HMMMMMMMMM ZX10R or ZX14 for 08? In my head so far, Majority vote for the 14. But yes give me some space in the tail, change the seat set up(wifey gonna want to ride), and move the Damn oil drain plug!!!!!

I'm with ya KillaKaw, that oil drain plug is a bit in the way for the ground or a ramp while loading or unloading for lowered 14's. One other thing I forgot to add earlier, Kaw needs to find a more efficient way to have the rear seat cowl removed instead of us having to unscrew four screws to remove the cowl. Very inconvenient.

I do use a tank bag, I'm forced to.

But the other part of the seat design thats a problem is.... have you been out riding, and while out with your bike decide to take a passenger? "hold on sweetie while I TAKE THE BIKE APART and honey do you mind if I put this cowl and screws on your seat LMAO I am SO SICK of that crap" but I deal with it all the time. People say buy a spare seat to avoid the screw ritual, but that isn't a solution for when I'm out on my bike and wanna' give someone a ride. My old ZX9 was awesome, the ladies busa I ride is awesome so I figure hey, maybe Kawasaki is capable of improving the seat design
