the new busa is the same as the old busa as far as motor design. word has it the old cranks and the old heads will interchange . suzuki only added a 2 mil stroke ,cleaned the head up and raised the compression

Mink you better read some more there's alot more updates then that, what about the new throttle bodies, the new air box, the new injectors and the new light weight valves and on and on. Yes suzuki kept the same block design which is a huge plus over the 14 as far as modding later, which would you rather do a big bore kit in.

Plus the 'zook redesigned busa rear end must have cost them a fortune in research and development

Shake the earth? Is it that afraid of R1's and Gixxer 1000's that you're already forecasting it to shake the earth in fear? Wow guess honda maintains the status quo again. LOL CBR loving steve gonna have to hide in shame. Again. Or only ride his 14. Course thats why he bought his 14, it's the ultimate trump card when your friends are pointing at your CBR and laughing-"yeah, but I also own a 14 how about you?". Feels good to be normal again doesnt it steve?

the busa actually gained weight in 08, it weighs 12 pounds more than the 06,07 ZX-14. it has less displacement, and nobody beats the kaw ram air setup in design or function. now kaw adds some more zip for the new year and possibly some green, the suzuki is an ugly piece of dead meat.
as for six cylinders, been there done that, can you say cbx, kz1300, both fine bikes but not that torquey and the motor got in the way.
as for honda or yamaha getting a worldbeater.....bahahahahahahahahhhhhhhhhaaaaaaaa. they don't have the killer instinct.
since the 80's suzukis are quick , kaw power on the big end. thats all folks.

only if your talking drag, and is drag racing a popular sport regarding "world event" or do we progress to the big leagues such as superbike and some motogp?

OOPS very politically incorrect for me to state such in a big bike/Kawi forum? naw, it'd be incorrect maybe in the drag bike forum

Drag racing has one of the lowest turn outs as far as Fans and every year that goes bye it gets smaller ....Nascar is what everyone watchs and goes to see .... BUT drag racing sells more bikes and this is why ..>> Everyone that is looking for a new bike wants the fastest bike ( Top speed and 1/4 mile ET and MPH ) Magazines focus on these numbers, buyers see these numbers and buy the fastest ....Motogp or Superbike may give you lap numbers like 23.41 seconds a lap ...Well what does that tell a street bike rider ??? Its tells them Nothing !!!!! The numbers mean zip swat to a street rider .. But tell them it runs 9.20 @ 150 and cha ching !!!! and another bike leaves the show room floor .. Can the new rider run that number on his new bike ?? No and it doesn't matter as long as the Magazine said it could ... Last time a Honda had world beater in the 1/4 was the 79 CBX ..Last time Yamahammer had one was the 85 Vmax ....I owned both and why did i own them ?? because the Magzines said they were the fastest ...lol....

I agree with all that but someone has to defend the good folks at yamaha and honda. But lets talk sales. Although zook sold many a 'busa' and Kawasaki sold a few ZX14's, compared to litre bikes sales are SLIM SLim slim

Don't you agree worldclass "R" superbikes will always outsell the big bikes, not only on the world scale they are raced on but here in the US where we watch the drag race numbers too?

For every busa leaving a dealership its hard to imagine how many litre bikes were sold.

"go out ridin with the boys on the street (ona honda or yamaha)"

key word "street". and sure in FL with its straight roads, but not where I lived in NC or many other places with sweepers. a litre bike a few HP and a lot less weight will eat the 14 alive. No matter which brand. I think this is obvious to anyone thats owned a litre bike and ZX14/busa

ya me too, maybe thats why I ride a ZX14 lmao (other than the track/track bike). when I bought the 14 it was because we have such STRAIGHT roads.

but I just bought a new tundra truck to haul the 14 to the mountains and I'm thinking WTF am I doing lugging this thing up there!? sure i'll lean it and knee-drag, but braking deep and corner speeds still won't be as fast or fun

Ok lets get back to the 08 zx14 .....

What would you do if you were mother kawi to upgrade the zx14 ?

My thinking would to add power at a cheap cost using what is allready on hand ... So i would do a 2 mill over bore ( that's cheap and it's just an extra pass of the boring bar ) and seeing you would need new pistons with the overbore just bump the compression from 12.1 to 12.5.1 .... Now i know what you are going to say >>>> It will over heat !!!! NO NO just add the rad off the c14 seeing that it allready has two Fans .... Now we have a true 1400cc and trump the Busas 1340cc .... That should bump the zx14 an easy HP gain of 9 to 10 hp.....

That may not be the way Mother Kawi goes but sounds good to me ...
i'm sure that Kawi left some power on the drawing board knowing that the new busa was coming ..It makes sense that Kawi would hold back just a bit of power ( just in case) For all we know the mapping in the factory ECU holds the keys to the extra power ...Look at the power we got from a P/C and that has nothing to do with the 6 timing maps in the Factory ECU ....Ok your turn to take a guess ...Smokin...

steve, if you think this bike only performs in straight lines you are sadly mistaken and under-estimating what your bike will really do. i live in street riders paradise. i have heard countless times from guys on litres,600s,900s and various european bikes how nice and powerful my zx is but to bad it can't keep up in the corners. ok says i lets put the rubber on the pavemant, over the mountain and back. i have yet to have someone leave me and usually the big zx flat out dominates. there is more than one technique to corner a bike. you do not rail the corner like you are on low torque four banger, you slow enough before hitting the apex to be able to power thru the corner and be hard on it by the time you exit just like ridding a v-twin.also i don't knee drag i grip the tank tight with knees and when the outside of my boot is grinding on the road thats far enough. the soft suspension soaks up bumps that will almost launch a repli-racer rider over the handlebars and the powerful brakes slows the bike down in very respectable distances. the real advantage is that nothing you can put tags and an inspection sticker on can accelerate quicker especially on a grade. it has taken awhile for me to get comfortable pushing this bike hard(the first couple of weeks i had to drive off the speedo cuz i couldn't even tell how fast i was going) but now that i feel confident i'm amazed by it's capabilities every time i ride. i've been riding for 30 years(street and track) and have owned and borrowed a variety of bikes over the years. imo the zx14 is hands down the best street bike i have ever thrown a leg over. also anyone who wants to knock the skill level of street riders go fuck yourself. yes there are lots of squids out there but every form of mainstream racing that has ever existed originated on the streets with guys that had the balls to push the limits and do things others said couldn't be done

BIGZXDADDY <---wtf are you talking about I race on the track (because of no twisties in FL) and have both the ZX14 and another bike in my garage right now...

and with the same rider the ZX14 is going through the curves slower, braking sooner rather than later, and a host of other things. Sure i can corner and get my knees down on the 14, but not with the speeds of the true "R" superbikes. Plus the 14 has a long wheelbase, too-soft suspension, etc etc etc Have you ever taken a college physics class?

'08 maybe it'll get better - If if I buy an extra seat that doesn't help while out on a ride and you bump into someone you wanna' ride on the back

***I didn't intend for the seat to be brought up lol I just dislike my '06 design.

Speaking of seats do you realize in that busa in the pic above there is a nitrous bottle in his rear seat, and in the ladies seat that I ride her busa sometimes there is makeup, a chain lock for jacket/helmet, perfume, make-up mirror and tons of other crap, and one click and the rear seat changes form?
