racing without air filter

I was wondering how many of yall are racing without the air filter installed? I just loaded up the brocks track map and decided to leave the filter in because I don't want to suck a grasshopper or anything into the engine. I haven't got my BMC race filter yet, still on backorder. Anyone had any trouble with leaving the filter out?

I wouldn't. I know there is mesh on the duct ram scoop, but all you need is one little rock to FOD your shit out and set you back 6-8K.

Yeah, if motosport don't ship soon I'll probably cancel and get it from them. I'm in no big hurry though. I'm still workin on my launching. I ran a 6.85 @ 111 mph last night in the 1/8. I was happy. I still aint goin full throttle in first yet, power wheelies still scare me to an extent. I can handle a few inches off the ground, but it's those 1 foot or more wheelies that scare me. I'd hate to wreck my shit because I tensed up from bein scared.

got the bmc street filter in and it rocks, you can see light through it so i don't care how thin the race one is run the standard on the street. smokin saw no difference betweem bmc race and no filter, which means the bmc flows.

No way I'd race without one unless I had a sponser that would replace my engine for me if it got FODded up.

The BMC's are top notch, street or race. If its not strictly a dragbike, I'd use the street filters.

"you can see light through it " Now bigdtd are u using it for racing or normal driving? I also looked at the BMC filter but is worried about the light that I see. It is not good filtering if you see light or what?

i use the standard bmc filter for street riding. they make a race filter but i thought it would be too thin for everyday use.

You might see light through it, however when dust particles flow through the media they tend to run along the outsides when they tunnel through - at a much slower speed than the air - where the micro oil-coated strands ensnare them. Unless you're driving through diamond cutting quarries or very dirty areas with clay dust you don't have too much to worry with, provided your oil changes are timely.

I think motosport finally got some BMC race filters in. I checked my order status this morning and it says "processing". It used to say "waiting on inventory". I hope I get it soon.
