Quick question on clutch

I'm trying to diagnose my shifting problems. I posted before about the air shifter not working right. Well, it's getting hard to footshift. It keeps getting progressively worse. I think my clutch is starting to slip, even though I can't feel it.

Anyways, my question is about the position of the outside clutch fiber. It is offset from the rest so that the clutch loses pressure when it wears to a certain point. The post a while back where the guy broke his basket, he had all the fibers lined up the same way, and said alot of racers do that so they don't have bad passes due to the clutch slipping. I have a new clutch ordered. Can I get one more night out of the ones I have if I change the outside fiber to line up with the rest? Is there a chance of breaking something? The tech guy at Schnitz said he wouldn't recommend it, and I would probably cause some failure. I need to do this really soon if I'm going to do it for tonight. Any advice is appreciated.

thanks, I just want to do it for tonight. New clutch should be here tomorrow. I don't see what it could hurt as long as you keep checking it.
