440 Turbocharged HP and 251 MPH

Sometimes, on a Sunday morning, it's a hard to decide on which machine I'll use to fly today. . . decisions . . . decisions . . .

Nothing wrong in being a teenager, wanting to fly and being on the site?

1) This isn't a airplane sight, so that is irrelevant to my arguement.
2) Yes a teenager on a ZX14 website is very fucking weird.
3) ...and YES the kid just showed me he's a tool by letting me know he gets bashed on many websites he probably tries to fit in with because he labeled me as some loser that bashes people on forums; which therefore shows that he's had much experience with getting bashed before...haha. Yeah kid, that's me. I bash people so much that I'm a moderator. Thanks for making me smile though because your making me remember when I was young and dumb.

Jack i dont like to argue on forums in fact this is the first time...I may be young but that does not make me any different than you besides that fact that you may have seen some more things in this world. You are the one who started this argument by bashing me for being 17 which i think answers the question to who the real idiot may be. The fact that you are a moderater and you bashed me to begin with is just pathetic. I also think we me have gone off on the wrong start so i will take the higher road an appologize for disrespecting you and ask that you do not jump to conclusions so fast on people because of their age. I am also sorry for expressing my passion for aviation and hope that you do not think all teenagers on sportbikes are squids as i get a lot of respect from the people i ride with and if you knew me im sure you would agree, so until we meet in person I thank you for keeping up a good forum....PS. you may have been dumb when you were young and i feel for you because that must have been a hindrance. I am happy to be raised as i have and have an early start on my life by learning from others mistakes and makin the most out of what time I have.

Kid, I never bashed you. In fact, I wasn't even talking to you. I made and observation and posted my "THOUGHT". I am busy right now at work and didn't even read your whole post yet, just wanted to reply to you saying I bashed you. You saying I did when I didn't now makes you a drama-queen.

Zx-1490049 i am soo sorry for the thread jack ....I was wondering how many flight hours a single engine pilot needs before they can learn how to land and take off on the water.

The minimum hours for a single engine private pilot's license is 40 hours. Realistically, the national average is about 65- 70 hours. The multi- engine license add- on doesn't really have a time frame, but it's usually anywhere from 10 to 40 hours additional time. The time it takes for any license really depends on how often you are able to fly. If you have the time to fly often your completion time will be on the lower side. A seaplane rating is just an add- on to your private. Not sure what the time frame is, but I would assume it's not long.

Along with motorcycles and women, flying is one of my passions in life. It's a blast and it makes the country a lot smaller. Anywhere within 1,000 miles or so is as simple as driving to a small general aviation airport, parking next to the plane and taking off. No security. No terrorists. No delays. Usually, for trips over 1,000 miles, I still fly commercial, but once I get enough hours to make the insurance company happy, a small jet or turboprop is in the future and then bye bye commercial airlines! If you ever thought about pursuing a pilot's license, do it! You will never look back! Now if I could only figure out a way to get my ZX-14 up to 251 mph as well...

What do you fly, Flyboy?

MY father in law flies a Gulfstream5 ( i think that is what it is) he works for Harrahs entertainment ( casinos) and flies big name gamblers and celebs all over the place, a couple of weeks ago he flew Micheal Jordan to Vegas Micheal tipped him 500 bucks! of course the plane ride didnt cost micheal a penny so a private jet to vegas for 500 bucks hell I would pay that once or twice a month LOL

Thanx 90049 I would also like to make a career out of flying but i dont know how good of an idea that may be because i do not want to fly large commercial jets but more like private jets kind of like BlackMagic's father in law. If anythin I want to fly for fun....And how about getting a jet big enough to fit the 14 in it that way your 14 can do over 251 mph (although its a lot of extra weight)....maybe take a look at the new honda jet!

Not sure why people are so upset about a young brotha being on the site. Good for you dude. There's nothing wrong with dreaming. Unlike some of the "men" on this site, I remember what it was like to be 17. I had a Honda CB360 and I tricked it out by painting the exhaust pipe flat black and taking off the Honda emblem. Those were good days. Enjoy them while you can. Time flies by faster than you will ever imagine at your age. Keep dreamin'. The 14 pic was taken in the mountains above Ojai.

The only problem with a twin is that if you loose an engine, the other engine will fly you to the crash scene that much quicker... I have a turbo 210. (one engine)

Good to see another pilot on the site--

I love that saying because it makes absolutely no sense. In my twin training, we spent countless hours flying around on one engine in all sorts of configurations and situations. Not once have I ever felt anything less than safe. I like my chances if one of the engines quits. I can't really say the same thing in a single. When that engine quits, you had better be somewhere where you can get on the ground relatively quickly. If you are over water or mountains at night, good luck. If I lose an engine, I simply calmly fly to the nearest airport , land and have it fixed. Unfortunately, the FAA does not publish stats on twins losing one engine and landing safely. If they did, the stats would overwhelmingly favor a twin (especially one that's turbocharged). The one thing I do envy though is your operating costs. A twin is definitely a little pricier to fly!

Most twin owners die on takeoff. They lose an engine, panic and then by the time they react, the plane has flipped over and crashed into the ground.

But.. owning any airplane beats the airlines...

True, that does happen, but as I said before the stats do not include all the engine failures involving twins where nothing happens and there is a "normal" landing at the airport. If you are trained correctly, the loss of an engine on a modern twin (counter- rotating props and no "critical" engine) is not a big deal and fairly easy to remedy unless you lose your head. When a single engine fails on take- off, you are taught to land straight ahead. If you live in an urban area, you have a very questionable chance of survival. Anyway, I still fly singles occasionally and believe that anything in the air is safer than SoCal freeways!

Wanta fly???? Go Rotor Wing. 30+ years beating the air into submission, 10 of them Military flying attack, and 20 flying commercial in the Oil Patch with a few years of Air Rescue thrown in. Probably the fastest I have ever covered the ground in all that time was one time I was flying a Cobra east from El Paso with a 50 Knot tail wind, My SOG was 200+ Knots. VNE on the Cobra was 190 Knots, and have exceeded that many times on dives, it would easily cruise 150 Knots. Loved the light twins for flying the Gulf, but when you are burning a gallon of fuel a minute, you do have to know what you are about.

SoCalZX keep the dream going, I am 51 years your senior, and my formative years was during WW2. All I ever wanted was to be a Fighter Pilot, lotsa things got in the way, but at 30 I finally got started on my aviation career, the need for Pilots for Vietnam gave my chance. You can achieve your dream if the desire is strong enough.....TB
