rattle source found
i posted a while back about a slight rattle i would hear only with the helmet off at certain rpms. i only ride with the helmet off after a wash while i go round the block. anyway, i had checked all bolts and the whole bike was ship shape but i still heard it. i pulled the windshield off and found it was coming from the tip over sensor. if you tap on the sensor it rattles! revved the motor and verified it definitely was the sensor. i am going to see if another sensor does the same thing by checking another bike or going to the kaw shop. it is not a big deal cause you can't hear it with the helmet on, but it is nice to have a mystery(to me) solved. anyone else notice this anomaly? i will post the findings of my investigation. none of my old bikes had one of these sensors.

Yup. Very old news actually. When the 14's first came out a few people had the rattle and just taped some foam around the sensor. Do a search and you might find the thread.

my 2006 vehicle down sensor rattle was fixed on a factory recall. the bikes were shipped with the bolts loose according to the recall notice
