from cruiser to 14?
hello all,
just signed into this forum , looks great , anyways i have been riding cruisers for approx 10 years now on and off, bought a new 900 classic last year, but most of my freinds have bought sport bikes, i took my buddies 600rr home for him from the dealership cause he's never riddin one, and man i must say i really like it,i rode it a couple more time and my only complaint is its too small, i am a big guy 255 lbs and 6'4, when i'm riding i can look down and see the front tire , i look like an ape on a football. now another buddy has a 14 , i haven't rode it because he is waiting for a new tire , but sitting on it it feels really comfortable, and i need to get opions from you guys who might have them , on what you think about these bikes, would you recommend one to a freind? i will not be racing this bike or dragging a knee on corners. i want a sporty highway bike with a few kahoonies, that most of all fits me.i realize this is one hell of a bike, but although i am knew to this i am not new to power , i have been an avid mountain snowmobiler with a 170 horse 500 lb sled, i have a 650 horse mustang that i race regularly,10 second car, i am not being full of myself , but didn't give these detail on another forum and was basically told to stay off of a 14 , and don' t think they were being fair.i love kawasaki and the 600 and 1000 are too small, will this bike work for me , i will respect the throttle and i am 35 years old , with respect for horsepower,
thanks guys and gals.
waiting to hear from you.

What are you waiting for? Do it! It's an incredible motorcycle. I'm a big guy also and the 14 is one of the few bikes that is really comfortable and not a crusier.

You really really wont regret it. The smoothest fastest thing going. A set of Heli risers for the bars and maybe a taller shield and you can do it all. I take mine touring, I commute, do track days and even off roaded once. (15 miles of dirt to a cabin!!)
Its the king of dragging.
I put on a pipe and pulled the flies for smoothness and power
Heli risers and Puig double bubble for comfort
and sliders and radiator guard for protection.
And thats all I need (Some need more heh heh heheh!!!)
I love my ZX so much I'm buying a track day only bike to keep from screwing the 14 up.
Alot of bigger cats got em and love them. They all seem to get springs after awhile though. I'm a scrawny dude and I need to replace mine after 8k miles due to trashings.
Oh yea, and nobody gives you any static about your bike. The ZX gets loads of respect.
Except some HD guys. And I just tell them cruisers are for you Mortals.

I was at a Suzuki Demo day yesterday and a gentleman that had only previously owned or ridden cruiser bikes took the current Hayabusa out.
After the ride he simply could not get the grin off his face.
He said he knew it would be a quick bike, but he said he was still astounded by the level of performance the bike had. Not only the power, but the handling, brakes, the whole nine yards.
I then pointed to my '14 in the parking lot and said, "If you liked the 'Busa, you will love the '14".
Nice to witness a rider having a major epiphany regarding the level of performance available from current sport bikes

go with the 14 cant go wrong...I was out on a ride yesterday a buddy of mine was riding another guys busa, we stopped at the local convience store and he said he loved riding the busa, I said hey the keys in it try the 14 so he took it for a ride. He pulled back in and said hands down a better bike, Power, Handling, Smoothness. Not too affend any busa riders in here just stating what he said, that busa feels like a piece of shit compared to the 14. Im 6ft 170 lbs (skinny) I like riding the literbikes but not too long of distances, they seem to have to much of and aggresive seating position for me, Well hope you join the team!!

I have been thinking of taking the plunge on a sport bike for a while now. Took the Busa out Saturday and tried it out. Great bike, but my knees were up around my shoulders. I am only 6' but it was very uncomfortable. Fast, great brakes, yada, yada, yada. Sunday was at Carlisle Bike Fest and Kawasaki was giving test rides. I got there too late as they were booked up 4 hours in advance, but at least got to sit on one and get a feel. Much better fit. Heading to the dealer tomorrow for a test ride and assuming all goes well will have it in a couple days.
Great site. Enjoy the wealth of info.

Why not own both??? Some days I love the feel of my V2K, other days I want the "king of the hill" feeling. Got the biggest badest cruiser (125 ci) and the baddest of the bad sportbikes.
Gotta love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

insurance cost
one of my factors is the price of insurance, and because i am new to sprtbikes , nobody wants to insure me here in b.c., our provincial insrance company will at a cost of 600.00 for 3 months, the other say they will not insure the 14, they would only consider it after 5 years experience with it, and 1 ticket and they will pull your license.kinda discouraging

As they were testers, alot of them looked "tested", but i was not aware of that. I went to my local dealer today and took one out for a ride today. Really liked it. We are haggling on price now. Hoping to come to agreement by tomorrow. We are very close.
