Mapping for no flies, open exhaust

I plan on removing flies and possibly running open exhaust. Is there a PC/// map out there for this set-up. Are there any other concerns with removing any restriction, will backpressure be a problem? Not concerned about noise. Was wondering if Brock would have appropriate map...

Open exhaust is a bad idea. Can you say 'burned valves'?? Thot so!

Why is it that you see so many manufacturers producing megaphone pipes with removable baffles. Does the megaphone allow for this? Was going to allow for about 12" of pipe after header condensor. Appreciate all advice, kind of new to the technical aspect of sportbikes, custom v-twin builder for years.

Will someone chime in. Been running a KZ 1000 with modified 350 Chevy headers for approx 5000 hard miles, top end looks great. Is there any reason that you cannot run a zx 14 with open exhaust as long as you have enough backpressure???

As long as you have enough pipe off the head to keep cold air from suckin back in you should be fine, but why just pipe, you are probly gonna lose HP and it will sound like ass!

Very curious about HP loss with open exhaust, as far as the sound, kind of like that throaty tone, I guess its what trips my trigger>>>

Isn't the street meg with the baffle out the same thing as running open exhaust?

hardcoremass,

Guess all the hype about stripped and dropped screws...had me somewhat worried that I was going to trash me new bike, but just go ahead and do it.

Getting thru all the plastic fairings etc was hardest part.
Installed the PC3 in conjunction with the fly removal.

Run the bike up to warm, like for an oil change.

Pull all the fairing crap off as desribed throughout the forum. Get a 8" #2 philips screwdriver. A high quality brand new one. Get a magnetizer and magetize it. Have a retreaval magnet handy too. Place the screw driver in position and using a rubber mallet, rap it three or four times firmly. Then slowly loosen the screw. Loosen all eight before removing, that way if you do run into trouble, you can simple tighten back down.. I used a 6" pair of needle nose to pull the plates out. Took longer to pull the fairings, tank, etc, then to do the job.

Leo Vince 4-2 installed with PC3 (mapped by Motofuel) and NO Flies
