looking for a way to prgram the flies
I have been talking with my brother who is a computer programmer, he's looking into a possible way to add to the maps a way in which he can program the flies to open earlier for increased torque. I don't know if this is possible. Are the flies controlled by pressure or are they electric? Does anyone know the answer to that question?

A long phillips screwdriver is all you need to reprogram the flies.
Why do you want to make it so complicated?

why pull them if you don't have too? I was under the impression that there wasn't a program for it yet. Thats what I get huh? Do you get this the same place as the maps?

They are controlled by a stepper motor by the ECU.
Just pull em out and remap with a PCIII and hang on tight!

Back in the beginning, when the ZX14 was first released, there was much talk about trying to "reprogram" the flies. Once people started removing them all together, most realized there really was no benefit in leaving them in.
Why reprogram to open earlier when you can take them out and accomplish the same end result.

ill tell you an easier way of doing it. You can take the motor of the throttle body. Leave that part hooked up to the computer. Do this so it doesnt give a code. The computer wont know its not hooked to the flies. Then youll have to use the hole choke setup off a zx12 or busa. You will just have to customize the pieces to work on the 14. That way you can change the angle of the flies whenever. The only reason i could see doing it is for racing. I looked at my throttlebodies and it possible. Just any idea

I agree.... programming the flies has always been the best way to deal with them, but isnt yet achievable... ZX-10R race ECU (KMC) allows you to program the flies.

thanks for all the input, looks like it's just easier to remove them, than try and find a feasable work around. Here one last question I am sure most of you can answer.
By removing the flies how much will the fuel mileage drop, or will it?

It the mileage will be about the same or better due to the mapping. You need a PCIII and the proper map to prevent a lean condition in the lower RPM's.
You also gain 20-30 ft. lbs. of torque in the lower region. That's a serious kick in the pant's.

Mileage will drop significantly because you won't be able to control your right wrist. It just feels so good.
