"Nobody can slam or say the new busa won't uncrown the 14"
no matter what it does, I was hoping to trade my 14 for one. But I also expected Suzuki to totally trump the 14, not present a close call. Plus I was hoping for a bike that didn't look like a rainbow decal belongs on the back.

Steve, Tony and myself taked about getting a new busa if it was faster than the zx14 ....But we where also thinking to would look more like the Gixxer that we all agreed we liked the looks of.....Power wise it has yet to be seen if it will be any faster than the zx14 ...For me it would have to be 2 to 3 tenths faster mod for mod or i would keep the zx14....I'm sorry the new busa ass end is just to much for me to take even if it did run 2 to 3 tenths quicker ....Looks like the new Busa power wise is going to be match for the zx14 so why trade for something i don't like the looks of .. I'm going to set back and see if Kawi fires back in 08 or 09 ....
Funny on the busa web sites they all said WTF did zook do to the Busa , is fugging ugly !! Now a few days later they all seem to love the look of it ???? Strange but true ... From blowing chunks one day and loving it the next day ...

I bought my 99 copper new in early 99, when all the 'current' busa owners were calling them ugly.
If this bike does nothing else but outsell the KAWK by 2, or 3 to 1, will you guys call it a success?

Lol, you Suzuki riders are the king of shit talkers. I really never used to lump motorcycle riders into a specific group. But as the years have passed, I come to form the opinion, that most, yes most Suzuki riders, specifically Hayabusa riders are some of the most arrogant stuck up fucking prick motorcycle riders I can think off. Hayabusa this Hayabusa that. That crap is years old. You ride a Hayabusa it automatically comes with a Superiority Complex..
Sorry Fish..
Is it ok if there are guys that own both?

I'm with you guys. I don't want one. Suzuki is boring me.
Now I'm hoping Honda does something profound in '08 with the litre bike as they did with the 600RR. Like much more HP (most in its class), less weight, slipper clutch, etc.
And if they add traction control such as the AMA race bikes I'll camp out in their parking lot waiting for the 1st one!

I'm thinking the same thing will happen again with a few members here.
When the 14 first came out i thought it looked like a joke impersonation of a "Matrix" sentinal....didn't take me long to like the bike for the predator it is. When the busa came out in '99 I had a 97 XX blackbird and thought the new busa was hidious. Not even a year later my XX was sold for a 2000 Hayabusa.
Same will happen for those slamming the new busa. People who called the zx-14 a "horrid impersonation of a spider's mug with george foreman grills" now love the bike and every distinct appearence feature. If the new busa rocks then the back end of the bike will grow on people just like the 14 multieyed fairing. Hell the busa's tail reminds me on a few "Transformers" I used to watch as a kid. Now with the movie coming out that tail end will probably help sales.
Besides big deal what the damn tail looks like. Are the people here naysaying it humping their tailpipes or something and absolutely need a good tail section to look at? If your riding good enough it's the only thing your opponant sees so the more painful it is for them the better. ;-)

No one on here nay saying has ridden the new busa. right?
Running down someone else's bike does not make your bike better, or does it?

I use to only ride Hondas, let's quit saying what kind of a balls out big bore street bike the giant CAN make and look what they turn out........
How is their market share?
Right, so if the new busa outsells the 14, isn't that all that matters in our Wal Mart world?

True but remember when suzuki dropped the Hayabusa bomb on us back in '99? It got some government big wigs so freaked out overseas that some wanted to ban every motorcycle making over 100hp at the back wheel and that idea spread enough for the manufacturers to decide on the 186mph neuter. If we got a 1500cc 220hp monster ya it would be great....until a horsepower restriction would be forcibly introduced providing the governments didn't decide enough is enough and make these bikes disappear completly. It wouldn't be hard. Think you could afford insurance rates starting at $6000 for 6 months? Providing insurance would still be available for these bikes? Ya some would ride without it but sales would plummet so bad the manufacturers would say screw it.
The governments are not stupid and neither are the manufacturers. They both know what we do with these bikes restrictions or not. And theres no shortage of bad press of what these bikes do in the wrong hands. Trust me, unless people want to see our bikes banned off the road, we don't want to see anything more extreme then what the 14 and new busa is now. They're both powerful and over engineered so they're great building platforms for 200+mph projects.

So, the 600cc and liter bikes are a more safe than our big bores?
Cars are going the same way, right?

A little over 10 grand and you have a rocket that other wise a 4 wheeler has to spend well over 50 grand and maybe another 20 or more in upgrades to even barely keep it in sight! The insurance companies fired back with outrageous premiums. The manufactures fired back with if we or a specific lender (Conseco) finance the bike for under 10 grand then you only need liability. Hey why have full coverage if you're paying 10 grand worth of insurance you can just buy another bike.
