New Guy Here, New to Mods too.

Hi Guys, My name is Bryan from Amarillo Texas, There are only 2 zx-14's that I know of in this town so there are not a-lot of people to talk to about them. I have a 2006 zx-14, I have put on a Muzzy full system, Droped one tooth in the front, Added a power comander with a map from FuelMoto. Changed headlights.<-- not realy a mod. And fender emiminator provided buy the parts on the 14 allready on the fender. Cleanest one I ahve seen on the fender too. Well anyway. I would love to ride with other bikes but all they want to do is race, I dont mind racing but I cant get my bike set up like I would like. When I put the exhaust on It seemed to help greatly with handleing and mid range. But hurt bottom end ond did not help top end to much. So I droped a tooth in the front and that felt like it was now geared like it was supossed to be. To help the top end and bottom end I installed a power comander. The first two where not good, First one cut out real bad at 3,000 to 4,500 RPM so they had me send it back, The cut out was even with a zero map, The second one no matter what map was in it dumped so much fule it would porr out of the mid pipe. It would also not run. NICE!!! So now three and a half months latter I get my new one and Boom, it works. "Kind-a?" Now the bike is hard to start, after it warms up it will try to die, most time will. It seems to work but ok but now it has so many qerks I almost want to pull it off, Sell the bike and get a hayabusa when they finaly change it. I dont want to realy do this, but I am running out of Ideas. I know if I read every form on here I will find some of the answers I am looking for, but I will try it this way cause every bike is a little diferent to me. I would like to go out a own some Bussa's but untill this thing runs like it is supossed to I think not. Sorry for th typo's. Fast typer. Well, I have herd of removing the flys, but muzzy and fulemoto say not to even with a programer. I just feels like the bike is holding back sooooo much and I want to set it free. I am not to new to mods but I am new to this kind of problem, So Fire away guys, help a brother out. Thanks

Take the P/C off and run the bike ...I ran mine stock wheel base with nothing but a Muzzy pipe , stock gears and it ran great .NO flat spots , idled Great, .. 9.40s in the 1/4 mile ... If it still runs like crap without a P/C then something is wrong with the bike and take it back to the dealer....also if your idle is lower than 1000 rpms it will die and be hard to start .... set it at 1100..... Don't just run it with a 0 map >>> pull the P/C OFF the bike and try it ..Smokin..

So you're running a 18t front? If thats true, there's your problem.

Now, if you've dropped to a 16t, the next natural step would be to pull the flies.

I'm not sure who you are talking about when you say 'muzzy', but I will tell you that the shop you're dealing with is uninformed. I have the same problem here. I'm the guy telling the dealership how to go faster. Seriously, you should find another shop or read up here and do your own wrenching. Ask around for a good map with your mods and yank the flies out.

First Smokin is right take the power commander off or get a map from Muzzy the FuelMoto maps SUCK I have dealt with them before, Second Take that 18 tooth sprocket off and put a 16 tooth on putting the 18 tooth on accomplished the opposite of what you wanted it to. Third pulling the flies is ok as long as you have a good map and Muzzy should be able to provide you with a map If you purchased your pipe from them or an Authorized dealer, BUT FOR SURE take the Power Commander off till you get a descent map and take that 18 tooth sprocket off it is killing you

ok I am sorry for the miss information, I have a 16t front sprocket, It has been a while since I put it on, so I got my up a tooth and down a tooth info backwards. Ok, on the map on the bike, I have tried powercomanders map, and fuel moto's. I have not tried muzzys but I will track it down. The bike runs good without a power comander. The power comander runs good if you let the bike idle for a few min's before taking off. If you start it and just take off it cuts out at steedy rpms like around 3 to 4 grand. after that its not bad. I dont know about you guys bikes but mine just feels like it just wont put it all out. The low range jsut isnt what it should be I think. We dont have a track so I cant give you a qtr time for it, but I raced a brand new kaw 1000 and I only beet him by a bike, maybe a bike and a half. when I first baught it, I was out run by an 05 or 06 gsxr1000 and a zx-12 with pipe and a p/c. the gsxr-1000 was stock. It jumped me cause my lack of knowing my new bike, but I never caught it. I have been riding for years, 03 cbr 600, gsxr 750, suzuki 1300, and now my zx-14. I am used to riding, I am not sure what is wrong or if these bikes can realy give mine a run for its money, Given what these bikes did, I am scared to death that an 07 gsxr-1000 will want a pice of me, I realy feel that bike will take mine in the worce way. I have herd of a TRE, timing retard eliminator, I thingk thats what I need but I dont know. I feel the bike beeing geared down and full system, with a p/c or with out would want to pull the front wheel up more than it does. I had a friend of mine ride it who is a lot more advance rider, and he said the same thing. He said it is unpredictible, where it should want to wheele it wont, when you dont expect it to, it does. Sorry my post are so long guys, thanks for helping me though.

-- they've all said "remove the files"...so do a search on this site and don't listen to the dickheads that told you not to remove them, as they're clearly uninformed morons...

What do you think happens when you put a TRE on your bike?

Lose the flies...and pickup 30+ LBFT of RWTQ at 3500 RPM, then pulll 4000RPM 1st-gear-power-wheelies from just throttle and no bounce or clutch...does that make sense, at zero cost?

You already have the PC3, just need a no-flies map now...

See my sig...

I guess I did not know how big of a deal the fly's will make. Last time I looked into that was when I baught it almost a year ago, there where not so many strong opinions on removing them. Everyone was scared to do it and no one had reported that big of change, I see now this is my problem, everything I have read that they do, Is what I am lacking. Thanks. COMMING OUT ASAP!!!!!!!!!! Please help on finding a map. Thanks. __________________________________P.S._______________________________
