Modified my SMEG to sit lower.........

than it does in the regular stok location. My friend has a '07 with the SMEG from Muzzy and looks mean. I basically took the mid pipe, cut it and modified it to give me the same angle that the Muzzy pipe has. I made it to where it sits just like the Muzzy muffler.

Oh well, just showing what I did.

Can you give a close up of the mounting? Any thoughts on performance?

Thanks man. I've had Mustangs for a long time. The '88 coupe you see has made 1177 RWHP and 1097 RWTQ with 32 psi of boost and has been 170 MPH in the 1/4.

Brock definately is the man and has a great pipe kit that is produced. I just saw how the pipe can look with the lower look and liked what I saw. As for performance, I can't see where it definately would hurt anything at all. I used the same mid-pipe section that Brock supplies except I cut it and used that slight 45 degree angle. It is still a straight shot to the muffler. Sounds the same and runs the same as far as I can tell. I'll get a few more pics tomorrow of the mounting point. I used the same tab on the muffler and made a bracket that extends from the bottom all the way over to the lower mounting point of where the stock pipe used to bolt to. Real simple and easy to do.

BTW, I took off the passenger foot peg mount too. Cleaner look that way.

I did my own seat. I peeled off the stock cheap cover, took a marker and drew out the line of how I wanted the seat to be cut out and took my time with a razor and cut it out. I kept about 1/4" of the top foam since it is factory smooth and then glued it back to the bottom seat frame, I then added foam back in where I purchased from a upholstery shop and then just had them stretch and install the cover since they have the staples that are needed. It was kinda a pain but easy too. I will attempt to anything that I think I can do first before spending money and not be happy with the end result. I've seen plenty of seats that guys have had done and they are definately not up to my liking so that is why I did my own..........MY WAY.

Nelson I'd love to man but I rather do stuff like this to "THE BIKE" that I am working on.

Here's a pic of the bracket that I made to hold the SMEG and with the pipe installed, you virtually can't see the bracket at all.

How sturdy is that mount? I need the pipe moved to get adequate tuck - now my heel goes to the side of the exhaust when I get on my toes on the peg...... hurting the aerodynamics - knowing that I am shooting for 200...... is the pipe mounted SOLID?
Thanks,
Kevin

Man look at the new bracket that I made. It is solid and bolts to the stock mount where the stock exhaust used to bolt to, bolts to the lower frame where that plastic cover goes and then bolts to the pipe. YES it is very sturdy. Yes it gives a tad but not anymore than how it originally came from Brock.

Blackmagic I almost dropped the bike laying it over to check ground clearance and it is just fine. Like I said, I basically copied just like what Muzzy did to their SMEG. I put my stuff in the same location as they did so I can't go wrong.

Thanks fellas.

I cut my mid pipe and it didn't hurt it at all. I priced out a new mid pipe from Brock's and they sell them for $170 if you muck up and wanna put the pipe back in the regular location. Of course I knew that I wasn't going to muck up though.

That looks much better than the stock setup. I like megaphone exhausts but not with a big upsweep. That looks more natural and kind of like a sidewinder. Nice Job..
