It was easy on a car, and I am sure its no different for a bike. Its basically like so.

1. Mount lght
2. Find key on hot wire
3. Wire a ground
4.Find tach signal from computer
5. Set your light

Go to there website it has detailed instruction for a car but i dont know about a bike. www.raptorperformance.com

I bought one fo the MSD shift lights and found it hard to see during the day.
Does anyone know if the raptor shift light VISIBLE IN DIRECT SUNLIGHT?
A shift light that is too dim is a waste of money!

JW, I've seen the MSD, it is really small. Have you considered a darker screen? I couldn't see the damn cluster in direct sunlight on my zx12...painted the screen flat black on the inside. Worked really really well. I'd recommend removing the screen and tape off about 6 inches. Hit it with flat black krylon rattle paint on the inside of the screen. I promise you, you cant tell the difference once you get it installed, it will come out real nice if you take your time.
Or, you can order a darker screen. Its cheaper than ordering a new shift light too. Let me know if you're interested in a Puig DB screen.

yes it was a dumb question. Need the switches set to '8 cylinder' and then set the the light at 5 and 4 which will make it light at 10,8oo rpm. I'll test it on the way to work in the morning

Light is very bright. Install was really smooth with the advice of some of the peeps around here.

As always, thanks for the help and info!

FWIW:
ground--used the bolt that attaches the rear brake reservior.
12V on/off---tapped into the tail light fuse.
tach signal----throttle side plug in the rear, white wire with blue stripe.

Mounted the shiftlight on a homemade metal bracket and attached the bracket to the left (as your sitting on the bike)of the tip sensor. Just to the left of the the tip sensor,( dead center behind the instrument cluster) there is a threaded hole I used to mount the bracket. The threads are the same size as the chainguard screws.

Pics when I install the airshifter.

Hey guys,

Was just doing a search and found this. I realize i am a newbie member over here, but stay over at suzukihayabusa.org, have like 10K posts over there over the last 6 years. Anyhow i build shift light / launch lights etc for the busa and recently put one on a ZX14 and thought you may be interested to see it.

A local guy here brought me his ZX14 because the factory launch / shift light is very hard to see, he should be seeing spots now. I used a coil adapter harness to get power and tach signal, so just unplug #1 coil and plug this in and coil back into it etc. Then hook up ground and clutch switch, takes about 5 minutes to install.

I personally think Red would have looked nicer but oh well.

With the clutch pulled in, you get a launch setting with an upper window, so you can set it to say 5000 - 5500 RPM the light comes on with clutch in, once you release the clutch you get normal shift light, and if you have an air shifter already i can wire it so that the shift light shifts your air shifter for auto-shift output.

FWIW, I'm really happy with this light. Its the perfect size and I can see it really well in the daylight. Installation was really easy after I learned to read. The folks at Raptorperformance also called me back to make sure I had everything working. Really good people who appreciate their customers.

Smith, thanks for the help.
