WELLLL, it's totalled for sure!

I also confess that I wrecked mine last nite. I admit, my confidence was shaken at first when I thought it was my riding ability that caused it to happen(Since1992, 15 years) but 5 of the guys that were behind me said I hit a ground hog, soooo... Anyway, it's totalled- looks pretty bad, my front end got squirrely right out of a curve, and I decided to(hopefully) head for the ditch and ride it out rather than eat some asphalt for breakfast since it was at 1 a.m. in the morning... But for some inexplicable reason the phone co. thought it was a great spot for a junction box, that's what I ended up taking out... hwy patrol says I rode the ditch a little over 200 feet, and was going 65 thru the curve ( the one I USED to take at 100+ mph, go figure...) So anyways, Since I had a wreck I'm looking for another one already...Maybe I'll get a blue one and change it to all black- just kidding!!
I wonder if it's worth buying it back from insurance for spare parts??? Anybody have an idea of what's too much to pay?

Sorry man! I hit something one night in a curve too and my front end got squirelly. I somehow managed to keep it on the road. It scared the crap out of me. But if you get it back, I wouldn't mind having the exhaust if you'd sell it. I've been wanting to try a full system.

Well, lots of (ditch rash?) and I think my head took out the windscreen- but for no helmet, leathers, or anything (stupid me, but it damn hot that day!)- I'm in pretty good shape... It is hard to breathe, and my neck down to my middle of back is feeling pretty jacked up. My wife wasn't very happy about that, and my 3 yr old is missing the bike someting fierce- He used to walk out into the garage and just sit on the stool and admire it every day. I just hope I recover well enough to ride another 14 again... I'm thinking about going back to the Dr. and do the CT and MRI just in case... Will keep you all posted-
Yeah, I couldn't believe it, but not a scratch on that full muzzy system- my buddies said it flipped twice and landed on it's left side- I thought about throwing the stock cans on and sledge- hammering them... But I don't think I can even pick up a sledge right now....

Well, now that you mention it...

When I was 16, I hit a power pole because of an icy bridge...

Got hit by semi truck in chicago @ 19

At 22 I was t-boned in my dr. door of 1985 mustang GT by some idiot who ran stop sign @ 70 mph, messed me up BAD, got boo-koo bucks, had fun spending it...
Lots of toys to buy!!!

My first crotch was a hurricane 1000 at 24, had it for 2 weeks, was cruising uptown, some drunk 16 yr. old girl come screaming around the corner and literally ran over my bike with a grand am, I cartwheeled over the hood and landed on my feet, made a nice teeter- totter- and then begs me not to call the cops!??! I said sure, no problem, whatever!

2 weeks later I got my first Kaw, was in love! I got a 1990 ZX-10R- what a beast!
Next bike is a 1997 ZX-11D- oh yeah!!

In '99, serious work injury of low back forces sale of all toys, crotches, snowmobiles, 4 wheelers, etc.

In Nov. 2002, house was hit by F3- F4 tornado, destroyed damn near everything... moved on

In 2003 got rear-ended in my Lincoln Mark VII, stopped, waiting to turn into chiropractor's office- idiot messing with his radio, hit me at 65 MPH, never saw me...

Laid low.....
and now this........How many lives do I have left?!?!? 9 of ???

Sorry bout the bike and im glad your ok but i think its time to start wearing a helmet. I did a reenactment for troopers where a biker was hit head on by a drunk yesterday. Although a helmet would not of helped him i have had bad wrecks and wouldnt be here if not for a helmet.

Statistics. Nine accidents, riding without a helmet or leathers, talking about a turn he usually takes at 100 mph. I don't feel Hubster will last much longer without a change in attitude. His son needs a dad and the odds are not in his favor. Maybe he should channel his efforts into drag racing, sky diving... something statistically safer. Maybe his post on this site is a cry for help--

Hubster- hope you get well soon. It sounds like there's a lot of people that need you around... including us.

See, Back in the old days we were young and dumb, and speed was king... Now, it's the power & torque...I do have full leathers, helmet. I wear'em every time I go ride- especially to work, which is only 5-8 minutes away... But that Friday was so hot and muggy, I'm running behind, etc... I didn't wear anything, because I do that too... Now, if I came straight home like I always do- I would've been fine- but I had to go and socialize with other bikers uptown- and had a damn good time! We went to the country to cool off, and the younger guys were poppin' wheelies and all that happy shit, But I'm just cruisin' along b/c that's the important part- riding free because I can and will continue to do so. I can't help it, it's in my blood, I guess. If it has two wheels... I gotta have it!
I know that the odds are heavily stacked against me, and I think about that all the time, and maybe I have one hell of a worn out guardian angel on my shoulder... I do have it set up for my family in case of my death, so that's my only consolation. BUT, sometimes I feel guilty that I'm being too selfish... Because my little boy would just be crushed if I were to not come back one day...
But NO MATTER what I drive, That bullseye is there on my ass whether I have a bike or not...
OH, BTW!
I normally buy the wrecked stuff back because it's kind of a hobby of mine to part out stuff anyways- so I'll keep you guys posted on any good, usable parts left over- that's my evil bay ID as well-

Thanks for listening to me guys- I wrestle with this shit every day and wonder if I'm making a mistake by continuing to ride, but I cannot fathom what my life would be like---without it???!?
