Just laid her down..another statistc
Alright...here's the situation. I was rolling along to get some lunch with some buddies and laid my black 14 down on the right side. The S_it of it is I was doing about 40-50 and slid in some damn gravel. I counter steered right, kinda like an oval dragger, hit the curb(smasshing my Muzzy's slip pipe, at least not the muffler) high sidded and ate sh_t! the right cowl is toast along with the upper cowl. The main sh_tter is my frame is cracked up front by the triple clamp. I'm just glad I walked away with only a concussion and a broken hand. I've already got her stirpped and ready for the frame swap...Just time and money ya know? Good thing I've been around bikes my whole life. Or I'd be F_cked!
I just wanted to post this and let all my fellow 14ers out there, that even with 20yrs experience, its the little slip that could cost us it all. Its the risk we take when we twist that grip, cause nothing in the world compares to the feeling we get when we mash it! I'll be back in the saddel and KONG will be reborn..... just keep focused out there fellas, keep the rubber side down and twist it. I'll be much more carefull out there thats for damn....

Glad to hear you're alright and with a good attitude. It takes a lot to confess on this site and it may even save a few lives.
Laid mine down in November, also hitting gravel. You feel stupid and inept for a few weeks/months but as you mend, you realize you were to walk away from it or in my case, an ambulance ride. You have to look at it as a "wakeup call" so you'll be more cautious in the future.

Check Evil Bay for the frame, theres been a bunch on there lately. Prices all over the place though, but sure they are cheaper than Kaw, and they do come with a title. If the ins is covering it, you may be able to get a replacement from Kaw with the same VIN so no paperwork changes. Did it on a Honda a couple of years ago.....TB
