a tenth and a mph in the 8th is awesome with just a filter change. do you think it would be a good everyday filter"

I am not sure but was this question answered yet? Is the race filter good for everyday street use? 25% more air over street BMC I would think would be desireable. Drawbacks? Use more fuel? As you can see I am still quite the novice.

The street filter witout a doubt will rob a little hp. Reason being , the street filter won't breath as well as the race. The race filter can let more particles get to the motor. This is why you oil them. The oil will catch more dust or dirt that would other wise get through. So, do want a little more power or do you want to last 150,000 miles? To me, the more hp the better. So breathing is key here. Thats why I opt for the UNI foam filter and I made mine breath. Think I got the material 6 years ago for less than 20 bucks and it would do probably 4 of our size filters.

Harder to put gas in the bike than to do up a filter!

I don't mind spending the bucks for a quality filter... with all the thousands spent on a bike in mods one would think the filter wouldn't be where the budget line was drawn. But thanks for the food for though Pat, you make a good point. HP or a little more maintanance... something to think about, but I think I would opt for the HP as well.
