Hey guys! Although I've been reading the post on this forum for a year, I have a problem with my bike and finally decided to register. So I am a "Newbie"
Here's the problem... Two weeks ago my bike would not start with the PC. Take it off and it starts right up.
Sent it back, received my new PC along with the Quickshifter. Installed the PC with correct map (full muzzy, flies out), made a bracket for quickshifter, installed and adjusted quickshifter ( all of the required lights were glowing), assembled the plastic panels, went to fire it up for a test ride and - no go! No response from the PC, all lights were out. That quick!
The PC lights up with the transistor battery supplied with it but when it's switched to the bike power, the "device not communicating" message pops up on the computer screen.
I know not to ground behind the reservoir so I'm grounding to the frame on the other side of the bike were the battery is grounded. Checking things out I ran a wire from the positive side of the battery and touched the red wire/pin on the PC harness and the PC comes back to life. Seems to be some sort of problem with the PC wire/connector where it makes up to the Kawasaki harness.
PC says to return it but I have to wait for a confirmation/return number. This is day 2 of waiting for a PC guy to call back with the info. Two more weeks will be eaten up! I want to ride the missile now!
Any of you heard of similar problems and/or ideas how to correct this problem?

grounding behind the res is fine. I've had mine there for quite some time on my old bike, and have it there on my new bike, works like a champ. Move it to the original mtng point, between the res and the frame..

its not the res and frame, its the res and case.. and i had similar prob with mine and it turned out to be a ground issue.

Thanks guys. My ground problem is solved; however my power supply is not. The red wire on the PC male connector is not making contact with the red wire on the kawasaki female connector. I can put juice to the red wire pin in the PC connector and it works. Problem in the connector? All of the male pins in the PC connector appear to be the same height.
Any ideas????

sounds like the power pin is pushed in or recessed, do a visual on the connectors, i bet the power pin isn't fully seated.if you can get behind it you might be able to push it in all the way. we have connector pin insertion tools at work. if it persists hard wire the bitch

I checked the height of the pin and compared it to the others. All of them were the same.
Could they all be wrong.
PC says that it isn't the PC that is at fault. IF you put juice to the PC pin from the battery their product is not the problem. I'm thinking that if the bike runs with the factory connections the problem isn't the bike.

not sure about the pc as i never had a problem with it, but factory connectors sometimes the entire connector gets pushed out the rubber seal and all . I would check that on both side of connectors.
