Rear seat storage
Last year I posted a web site from Japan where one can buy after market parts for the zx14.
Of particular interest to me was the storage compartment over the rear seat.
Ordered one and the space was better but still not what I wanted.
So I chopped rebuilt and had it painted.
I can fit in miscellaneous small bits inluding a bottel of water.

Wish Corbin would do one of these. They did a really good solo seat with a smuggler trunk for the ZZR1200. Was hoping they would do the same for the ZX. I am 100% solo all the time, so dont need the rear half. Good job on yours, I would like one just to keep the paper work in. I use a small Manta tank bag now, but would be more secure in one of these......TB

Looks good. Can you post a full side shot of your bike?

That seems like a lot of work for such a small amount of storage. I know what MasterBlaster is saying about the tank bag... it is a good place to keep your paperwork but you can't keep someone from swiping your bag so you need to take it with you.
That is one reason I loved my 12R. It was a small little space, but I was able to stuff quite a bit in there like the bike's manual, the registration, my keys, and my sunglasses.
I like the modification though... you did a real good job.

I could definitely use one of those. I've been thinking about getting a spare cowl off ebay so I can make something like this. How much did you pay?

Firstly you have to buy the rear storage unit from the guys in Japan and then modify it.
Can't be justified on costs, I just hate having to have a tank bag to carry anythoing on the 14.

Also note the Vortex black sprocket just installed. <--- VORTEX is to sprockets what Michelin is to tires. Simply the best. That hardened black is the bomb-diggity.
The rear of your bike looks fantastic. I've thought about some luggage back there but I don't qualify for an AARP card or pacemaker yet.

I like the rear hugger. Purty! I am thinking about getting one myself.
