Pretty amazing how much these units make
I think the motor was 1516cc or 1560cc
I could be wrong.

Bob, do you think its posible to hit 200 miles an hour without lowering the bike, and mirrors still in place?

Good question. There was another 1400 at the last meeting with the same mechanical specification as mine, same TiForce exhaust system, Power Commander, Speedo Healer and everything. He had mirrors off but was running stock height. His best speed was 191.4 compared to my 203.1, that's over 11mph slower. He and I are about the same size too.
We were trying to decide why. Without getting both bikes on the same dyno' we couldn't say it was a power difference but they shouldn't be too different in bhp. The only other thing is that my bike was lowered and different riders.
I only lower my bike for the track and I've got changing the height, front and rear, down to less than an hours work, now I've done it a few times. I know for sure that lowering it makes a difference to the drag coefficient and I think you'd be very lucky to get 200mph in still air from around 190 rear wheel bhp without lowering.
Edit: nearly forgot to say that you can launch harder too if it's lowered and that will make a difference to the top speed attained over a given distance. Also strapping the front just a small amount will stop it from rising, which it will do at high speed and should help.

LIke you,i like top speed. but I'm stock now at 191.5 or so...... with normal hight, akrapovic exhaust, bna air filter, speedo healer at -15 % pc3 good map. put a 20% more fuel to the beast......... hiting the 11000 rpm... maybe the 41 sprocktet is the problem..... here in holland we run with 98 octane...!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey Bob great job... ive got a question....you may think silly...while looking at the enlarged photo...you can see a hump in your jacket right behind your head...top of your shoulders.....is that the wind getting in under your jacket there?...and if it is.. is there a way to correct that? thinking if it slows your top speed at all? or is that something you actually put in your jacket to improve the flow of air?

It's a reservoir for my bottle of JD.
Sorry dac, having a joke at your expense. You're quite right, it's supposed to smooth out the airflow. Careful attention to aerodynamics is the secret to going fast.

Correct, not in the catalogue. I had one made to order by Renthal and they charged about £40.

That's 191 mph. You should really consider lowering the bike. Have a look at this image. Me on the left and another rider on a 1400 going through the speed trap. Both bikes have the same engine tune but he is not lowered. The blue lines show you head height and sump level. He was doing 191.4mph to my 203.1mph, same day, same track and same conditions. As well as a lower drag coefficient I could launch harder, result = more speed

Great pictures. Check the other guy's elbow. It's sticking out and not a 90 degrees. Like Bob's elbow, it should at 90 degrees and arm lined aganst the tank... almost vertical.
Bob, three suggestions if you don't mind. 1) Take off the weights on the ends of your grips if you are allowed. 2) Take off your front brake hand grip, if allowed and if you can slow down quick enough with just your rear brake, and 3) raise your butt 4 or 5 inches off the seat . This allows for better aerodynamics as the wind will go under your crotch. It also allows you to get lower behind the windscreen. At this point it might be hard to see so tilt your head to one side. You might pick up 3 or 4 mph.
Great job again!

that's correct. I gained 4 km/h with moving by body backwards.. so my butt went up some. looks like you are not enough backwards.. (just positive comment)
