Sucks doesn't it? I can't understand why Kawi doesn't include a tool capable of removing the front axle... that's completely unacceptable as it's not a "common" tool that you might already have kicking around the garage.

I ended up purchasing a "Motrax Axle Wrench" from Cycle Gear for $16.00.

My zrx had a factory tool, same type axle and it twisted bent and broke without breaking the nut loose, maybe that is why??

Same here - I used the factory 'tool" on my ZRX and twisted it all to hell. Kawi needs to learn how to make an inexpensive tool that can be included in the tool kit, or simply make the front axle accept a 17mm hex wrench like the ZZX1200 did... I've got 17mm hex wrenches already, and they can be picked up at almost any tool supplier (like Sears) 'cause old aircooled VW's have needed that size forever...

My mechanic friend had a tool similar to the one shown above. It lasted about two times before it cracked into pieces. Too thin of aluminum wall.. Perhaps that cycle gear one is better though...

Get a sparkplug socket with the hex top. It fits perfect and just stick the extension in from the opposite end. Works like a charm and only a couple of bux.......TB

No, this one is quite good. It's a solid chunk of steel, so I don't think it's gonna bust into pieces. It's a bit heavy, but it's under the seat in the tool kit now.

I bought a large bolt from Home Depot with a head that fit. Put 2 nuts on locked down together with a little epoxy of the threads......instand $2 indestructable axle tool!

But if you leave the hex end of the axle clamped and just undo the other end you don't need any tool....

Well, actually... you do need a tool to undo the "other end".

Of course you'd leave one end clamped, but you still need something to turn the axle on the unclamped side.
