60fts needs improvement (Help)

I have been trying to get into the 1.57-1.58 range for 60ft times.
I can comfortably hit 1.61-1.62 without worrying about the bike
smacking me in the chin. Now I know that seat time is the key
to success in this sport and I only been out once this year due to
weather. Do you guys think that going -1 on the front sprocket
will help me get out the gate quicker?

Bike is stock wheelbase with stock gearing
I need to get my big azz going faster.
Losing some weight would help to.

Thanks
NT3

i also need help, i ran them 60's last year but only 9.90. went out this sunday with totally different setup, first run i just cruised out, 60' 1.498 went 9.263@147.7 that was my best for the day. the more i tried to leave harder the worse i got. i think i need to slip the clutch more and more rpm and be smoother with the clutch. i have brock's track map pump gas, 64" 16/43 pingle elec shifter, shinko, gen 3, it is alot easier for me to ride now

Blue you are real close to the 8s..... All you need is a 1.40 60 footer and you are there or very very close ....Sometimes when you try to hard it does get worse ...Relax and let it come on its own .... Give this a try next time out ... stage at 5500 and toss the clutch out ... don't just pop the clutch but a very quick release ...Now the second the clutch is out and not before pin the throttle .... I have the clutch out before i get to the 60 foot mark and have the throttle pinned just after the 60 foot mark ..When you get the timing down it will keep the wheel flat on the ground ... I have done 1.38 60s this way... smokin..

Your problem is a little harder to fix .. stock wheel base is a bugger to get right .. I have run 1.50 and 1.51 on stock wheel base and let me tell you it's a bear to do... I never tried a 16 tooth with stock wheel base so i can not tell you if it will help......What worked for me was this RPMs 4500 to 5500 snap the clutch out about 1/2 to 3/4 and hold... at the same time starting twisting the throttle...The timing is the hard part ... You need to snap the clutch out to get the quick 60 times but not so fast to make it wheely ...Use the 330 cone as a marker... watch the cone as you slip the clutch the rest of the way out...Make note of when you got the clutch out....Now try to shorten that time or feet before you get to the cone.. The trick is to keep the wheel on the ground so you don't have to back off the throttle ....Tonytooth is getting the hang of the stock wheel base thing and busted off a 9.31 last time out ...His remark of the pass was the same as mine on a good pass ( it was so soft i didn't think it would be a fast pass) .....Keep working on it because with seat time it will come ...Smokin..

I'll keep an eye on that 330 cone and try 5500 rpms next time out.
I have been leaving at 5000pm.

Thanks

that is what my run felt like, really smooth, no wheelie, no bog, i don't think the front wheel even left the ground. you see i rode it pretty easy not knowing what it was going to do. i am taking my horses to tunica this week, but, i think when i get back i am going to set some cones up on a rode by my house and practice, who knows i might not be getting the throttle all the way open right away. i really appreciate all your help! oh i bought some boots, thor pite bike 50/50, really lite, comfortable
