Ram air /turbo charging

Good day.
I come with a few years of experiance in turbo charging.
I started off twin turbo charging a 454ss.
4l80e transmission programmed. The tires did not break when accelerating.
Awsome ride.

I expreimented in water injection/nos injecting not for the H.P but for the cooling.
My last bike was a big block. FJ 1200 bored out to 1400cc N.O.S.
The transmission was dove tailed up and down. When I put it into gear it stayed.
The bike rocked.
I just purchased my ZX14. Prev post upset a member at my selection of perf parts.
I have access to a Dyno and will be doing tests on the stock bike and then the modicications. I like to know what I got for my money. (I hope not screwed.)

I read in a post where someone wanted to turbo charge with a fan but the extension cord would not be long enough. I thought this was funny as hell.
I have also experimented with 12v fans. Plastic housings. They are a little larger than a turbo size wise but the cfm depending on the application does show an added performance gain, only when incorporated with a seperate set of injectors to make use of the added air.
Suplimental fuel computers are now cheaper than ever it seems. Tuning systems is really simple also. Weld in a bung and check your air fuel mixture when riding and make small adjustments.
I am a hobbiest at heart.
I have been a lic 6g tig welder.
I have created all my own exhaust systems. (sense of pride running your own equipment)
My background is in sheetmetal lic/G2 lic (gas)/refrigeration lic.
I have also experimented with refrigeration systems to cool intake systems for a lower ambiant temp into the motor makeing a wad load of power in cars.
It is trully amazing what you can do when you put your head to it.

Reading here in the forum I realize everyone has their tallents.
I have expressed a few of mine here.
I look forward to this riding season, and wish everyone a safe riding season.
I say season due to the fact I live in Ont Canada.
You lucky bastards south of the boarder!

Catch ya later!

IMHO total bunk.

But hey knock yourself out. Sounds like you have skills with the welder.

No. That scares the shite out of me. Did not know they made those units.
I imagine they increase the air but nothing past atmospheric pressure if you are lucky.
No +boost.
But increasing to Atmospheric 0 you would realize a power gain, and a fuel savings they claim. But no real power for the hard core.

In order to make more power with the ram air you need to know how much is already being made at highway speed. Use a vane anemometer. Knowing this you can move forward in your fan selection. But long and short you will not out perform a Turbo. Turbonetics has made some amazing improvments in the industry. Ceramic bearings for 1.

Anyone here apart of the turbo club?
The club exhisted years ago, started by a magazine that was bought out.
This is where I learned turbo charging, and tweaking.
I dont know everything. I am learning as I play.

I have been playing with turbo charged mototcycles since my teens. The experience I
have has cost me alot of money over the years. If a turbo bike it properly built, they are
reliable and the power can scare the shit outta you.

Think twice .... build it once .... dont geat greedy with the boost and enjoy !!

cool...

I just picked up some stainless to make a couple cannisters...
I will have to dyno the bike after to see the hp difference...
Straight pipes. They will look good.

I will look into turbo charging next year after this bike is broken in.

I have acces to laser and plasma machines for the flanges.
It is going to be a fast mod.
The body work will slow me down.
The rad mod will slow me down. I can take the original in and have a rad made for the bike.
They cut off the ends and replace the center core.
The rad will be deeper... To make up for the loss in length...
Added injectors in the boots... Fuel computer... Turbo
Stainless steel pipe...
I am really going to enjoy the bike the way it is this year...
The $$$ involved is staggering. Even when I do it myself.
Any info you can throw my way I will draw it up like a sponge.
