Well, if my info was right...the 14 has milder cams than the stock 12...can't see any reason not to give the 14 some more radical cams? Also, if you have the head off...a bump in compression seems in order....

Did you ever find any data on the 12 vs 14 aeros? I have been looking but haven't found them both in the same trim in the same wind tunnel at the same time. Maybe comparing the old busa vs 12 wind tunnel test and the newer busa/gixxer thou/zx10/zx14 wind tunnel test to compare? Since the busa is the common bike in both maybe a conversion factor (if there is a difference between the 2 busa readings) can be applied and one could extrapolate the difference between the 12 and 14....
My money is still on the 12.....but hey, I'm biased!

I have been to busy racing to do any real research. I raced my car at the Pinks All Out last weekend in rockingham. I didnt make the show but ran a 9.53@138 with a pretty long wheelie and a 3.88 330'.. I hope they put that run on TV when it airs.
I dont know that any of the aero info off of the other bikes would be helpful, I think the fairing is wider on the 14.

I am not sure how much more the compression could be bumped up and stil run pump gas. with the longer stroke I am not sure i would want to rev the motor higher. I would have to check the piston speed, but i woudl guess it is as high as I woudl like to see it. SO porting would get a broad range of power without increasing either compression or rpm.

I WANTED TO KNOW WHAT IT TAKES TO MAKE THE 14 TO PULL HARD ON TOP.
A STOCK BORE 12 HAS ALREADY RUN 203 AT MAXTON.
I SAID I WAS POSSIBLY GOING TO BUY A 14, BUT WANTED INFO/ADVICE.
MY FUCKIN' BAD.
Shane,
Let me give you the facts from a nuetral racer in all this - BTW - my preferred sled is a V-Rod - so the whole zx12/Busa/14 debate is absolutely meaningless to me. I am trying to run 200 at Maxton and Bonneville this year on a stock engine set-up. Last year I worked set-up all season trying to figure out how to master riding a rice rocket at speed and appropriatley set it up. My best pass at the Sept meet was 185.18, Chad ran 193.9 on the rev limiter in 5th the last 250'. I believe he would have run 197 or 198 if he had shifted into 6th. I have it geared high 18/40. BTW - this was my first time doing LSR and I have alot to learn on proper tuck to get things where they need to be.
My set-up is Brock SMeg, Power commander, quick shift - lowred 1" in the front 1.25 in the rear. This year I also have wheels, ceramic bearing, buell pegs and corbin seat - stock seat is a challange for big body tuck. I was at 220 last year and will run 185-200 range this year.
From a comparative performance perspective - my experieince is that a race prepped busa or 12 run about the same. I frequently practice at the local drag strip - soft launching and trying to MPH at the top end - similar to running at Maxton. even though I typically run in the 11s doing this I will out pull Busa and 12s by about 7MPH - that is if we are at similar speeds at the eight I will be going 7MPH faster through the traps in the quarter. This demonstrates the performance differance in the various platforms. My highest top speed thus far in the quarter has been 143.xx in the low 11s. I will begin to launch it more aggressively this year, and will try to pull 150MPH in the quarter - I am hoping to go over 147 with pump gas and 150 with MR9 and no filter. Race prepped Busas and 12s seldom break 140 at our track and typically in the 136 or 137 range @ high 9s for ET. My experieince is that the 14 has a siginificant performance advantage over either of those two. Again - I have no ax to grind nor any interest in the brand/model wars..... just sharing my perspective on the topic.
