Have ordered a powercommander today to allow me to pull mine (bike runs too lean not to have the PC3)

The flies are an extra set of butterflies in the throttle body that are there fo no other reason than to limit the power the bike makes at the lower end of the rev range.

Steve should be able to send you towards a link that will have all the info you need on what they are and how to remove them. I was unable to find the posts originally (search function was too hard for me, but Steve was able to help me with that)

I have come to this afther reading at Ivans Performance:
1. TRE "ver 1" will do without anymore. It raise the low end.
2. Remove the sub trottels/flies-TRE "ver 2"-slip on's AND PC, and get the most. Ivans have the corect map.

If u move the flies, u have to remap because of dangerous lean A/F ratio!

Anyone tryed just the TRE install, (1), here? Nice powerlift low down?

Remove flies
Get pipes (or slip ons)
Get power commander
get appropriate map (lots of people have various maps - depending on the pipes you get will depend on the map - Ivan probabaly won't have the exact map for your exct setup)

Either version of the TRE will leave the bike running lean down low and require a PC to correct.

Pulling the flies will require the PC, but you won't need to purchase the TRE.

Pulling the flies has a greater powerlift than the TRE.

I'm getting mine done on the grounds that it will be smooth - throttle control being the important factor now the "safety factor" has been removed.

Ride your bike for a couple of thousand k's (thousand miles or so) and you will start to realise what is missing and how the flies rob the engine - you'll also have gotten used to the bike by this stage to know if it;s right or not.

(I was going to wait til my first service before getting this done, but couldn't hold back any more)

Still as smooth but you just have so much more power down low you don't dare "whack" the throttle at anything above 2500-3000 rpm unless you like riding on one tire.

Hmmm in the link above here, where Broks testet the TRE. He show us a picture of the subtrottles at 3000 with TRE, witch is almoust closed. I cant see how the hell he get the engine started with sub trottles almost close as he said, without the TRE...!

Thats how the bike is standard.
Every 14 out there has those sub throttles closed until they start to open.
They don't fully open til alot later.

The 6th gear mapping (which the TRE fools the bike into using) opens the subs up alot earlier, giving more airflow and power earlier than the mapping does for gears 1-5.

Using the TRE starts them opening earlier, but they are still present and are still robbing power. Removing the flies (sub throttles) solves this problem once and for all.

Still getting enough air through.

Ride the bike for a month and you will definately be able to notice where the lack is.

The main throttle butterflies open as per normal, I guess the secondaries don't totally seal the throttle body, just restrict it until they open at high revs or are removed.

My thinking is that removing them isn't really giving the bike a shocking amount of power down low that it's not meant to have, but, rather putting the bike to its natural state before it was restricted at the factory.
