Cop with an attitude...
Just thought this was an interesting story, nothing special. Got pulled over today in my truck. I passed a cop car in the emergency lane between 2 18-wheelers. He and one of the truck drivers were walking beside his car. Scared the shit out of me really, I couldn't see him or his car until the last second between the 2 trucks. I swerved away to give him some room. I guess he couldn't see me until the last second either, and the quick flash made him think I was speeding. Somehow he missed the 2 cars behind me about to run me over.
Next thing I know he's pulling me over a couple of miles down the road. Cop was screaming at me to get out of the car like I just killed someone or something. I walked back there and he asks me what the hurry is, still screaming. I said, "Nothing in particular." Then he tells me I was going 95mph!! My mouth dropped, I said no way, asked him if he was the cop between the trucks, he said ya. I told him he was mistaken. I checked my speedo when I passed him and I wasn't going close to 95, plus I glanced at my radar detector so I knew he didn't clock me. He says we'll find out in court. After I gave him my license he decides to give me a warning all of a sudden, out of the blue. He started yelling some more, I started to argue with him then just got in the truck.
My wife was kinda freaked out by the way he acted too. She even said he was gonna get his ass shot acting like that with the wrong person, and my wife is not remotely violent, lol.

yup, he should have had his car pulled out enough so evveryone can see the emergency lights...
Fight it in court.
Write down your story, and date it.
Call the police station and file a complaint!

He just gave me a warning so I don't have to go to court, but I should file a complaint. I didn't notice if he was a state trooper or what though.
If he'd said I was doing 80mph I might have believed him, but I knew he was full of shit when he said 95.

...just chalk it up to another good war story where you win...no sense bringing unwanted attention to yourself...he gave you a warning...he yelled, you yelled back...then you got in your truck and got to drive away...that's as good as it'll get...sure, maybe he shouldn't have yelled at you, but he was obviously pissed because you scared the shit outta him...so, what are you going to do about it?...what can you do about it?..nothing really...just .move on...but your wife is correct: he'll get his if he continues to act like that...and you didn't get a ticket nor will you have to waste your time in traffic court...

Unless you're in Vic - they shoot first
As you say though - anything that gets in the way of their speed related revenue raising gets a worse wrap than assault

The cops a pain in the ass in Aus or just about speeding? Radar detectors and laser jammers are legal in most states here. I think 7 out of the 50 have banned them.
I probably would file a complaint if I knew who he was, but with all my ZX-14 decals he'd be looking for me after that.

Speed is the main complaint I have with coppers -
cameras, speed traps, laser/radars etc - usually at places where motorists go over the limit because the road pretty much demands it, not because of a history of accidents/incidents related to speed at the site.
We have highway patrol as well - their whole brief is zero tolerance and throw the whole book at anyone.
There is a new law in victoria (hoon rule) where your vehice can be confiscated if you exceed the speed limit by 35km/h (about 23mph) - third occurance you don't get the vehicle back. The confiscation is at the cops discretion - HWP will always use it.
Regular cops can sometimes be reasoned with (sometimes).
A plumber had sent his apprentice out in the work van to get some materials - young apprentice was pulled over and vehicle was confiscated for 48 hours by one of these pricks (doesn't matter who was driving). Thats 2 days the plumber is without tools, work, vehicle etc because of no fault of his own.
At least over here the cops have to stop chasing if the speed reaches 200km/h (~130mph) - even less in a squad car, divisional van or on a bike. Plumbers vans may not be able to do much about it, but if looking at a vehicle being confiscated then a quick twist of the throttle and a run to an underground carpark of shopping center could easily solve that.

Move on.. He realized he was being a jerk and backpedaled. Ya... you could file a complaint and get your name on an unoffical list for your trouble, you do not want your name on that list. Be the bigger guy, go to the station with a box of dounuts. They prolly won't eat any (I would not) but you will feel better about it.

Yeah - heard that earlier tonight. A 43 year old - driving while disqualified for the third time or something.
Didn't get to hear what his offences were though - cop chief was on the radio though saying it was a strong message to all the hoons.
Wasn't in dandenong (been years since I've been up to the dandy drags ). If you're talking about the riots a couple of months ago then most of those would have been tossers causing the problems wouldn't they? Used to be brilliant before P platers were not allowed decent cars

Be nice if we had an Autobahn over here. Driving in Germany is expensive from what I understand though, tickets and drivers licenses can be in the $1,000's of dollars range. Surely we could find some sort of compromise

...use in to be Montana...but it can be anywhere where there is minimal law enforcement ...but anything over 100mph will land you in jail in Calif.....if the posted speedlimit says 70mph, most drivers operate at 15~20 over and the reality most cops don't pay attention to it, just don't bring attention to yourself y passing them as they're pacing traffic at 15~20 over....and dont go crazy when traffic is thick...we do indeed have some of the fastest road redily available, but unfortunately we have two major problems that impede safe high-speed operation in highly capable shih-speed vehicles:
1) stupid drivers with varying degrees of experience and no lane discipline
2) gov't safety-crats who think they know better as they drive around in their Ford Tauruses

I wish they would enforce lane discipline. I get so sick of morons driving side by side at 10mph below the speed limit. Just because you don't have anything better to do besides crawling down the highway doesn't mean you need to waste my time.
