You can find more of my thoughts on this if you do a thread search, but ya, I have the backrest. My wife likes it for the extra piece of mind (knowing I'm not going to slide her off the back). I don't think she leans back on it much but I will ask her. After all, this is a sport bike and you can't really sit up and lean back like on a cruiser. I was riding wheelies just the other day with my wife on the back, backrest and Corbin bags. It pops up nicely at 70mph with her on the back in 2nd gear, just twist the throttle.
As for the driver backrest, I don't think you can put that on the ZX-14. That was a generic page for the backrest, which fits many seats.
I should also mention that you have to remove the seat to remove the backrest... or you're supposed to anyway. I wrapped the shaft on mine with a little electrical tape and it stays put quite well w/o using the screw that is supposed to go under the seat. I can just wiggle mine right off now. This was necessary for me since I have to remove one of my Beetle bags to get the seat off. The Corbin seat itself is definitely more comfortable on long rides. On short rides you might actually like the stock seat better because it is softer, but you'll enjoy the Corbin if you rice over 1hr for sure.
Be warned that some of the textured leathers are VERY slick and your passenger will slide back and forth a lot unless you do something about it. It was VERY unpleasant for me and my wife when I first got the seat. A few drops of honey spread around with a damp rag worked really well at first. Now the Mother's leather conditioner seems to do the trick. I don't know if it's because the honey is already there or what, but it works. I have to put it on every few hundred miles to keep traction on the seat. Just a small amount spread on the seating surface with your hands works great and only takes a few seconds to do. Oh ya, don't listen to anyone telling you you're ruining a good sport bike. There's nothing like embarassing some squid on a 1000 with the saddle bags and the wife on the back. If I want to take a road trip I can do that comfortably too. No way any Gold wing or FJR will do what my bike can do.

My daughter loves the bike, but I am scared for her , she has tiny hands and skinny arms.
A buddy belt and corbin with detachable backrest will be in my garage for rides with her, the stock seat will have a hole carved into it for the bottle of dope, when I ride by myself!

Thanks for the info, phytrax. Actually, your thread was one of the write-ups that made me decide to do the Corbin seat in the first place. The only thing I could not find was the comfort level of the passenger seat. I do not want the seat for my passengers to lean back like in a Goldwing - I want the girl to hold on tight, but the back rest will help them from tasting pavment because their fingers weren't locked tight enough. It does not look bad at all on your bike. I like it. What leather texture did you use for the saddle and the side panels?

i see i struck a nerve with my sissy-bar bashing. please excuse my naive youth - i dont know much about being persueded by wives and kids. this thread serves as further proof of my theory that there are zx-14 riders and zzr1400 owners. i can tell that some of you bought the biggest bike on the market to be used as nothing more than an extension of your penis.

It says the details in my signature. The back is carbon fiber. The lady at Corbin sounded really condescending when I told her which colors I wanted, but I love it. I'll post a close up when I can.
Edit: Here are the pics. Oh, the 2nd one is just a decal I had made for my Titan. I just threw that in because I'm proud of it. The logo on the right side is actually black reflective material. It's white in the pic because of the flash. It usually looks like a dark charcoal metallic.

In Corbin's defense she did offer to send me material samples. I guess they get people that order crazy stuff and then don't like it and probably try to make Corbin pay to change it. The attitude wasn't necessary though.

They will send out samples? That's perfect! I was planning on doing a black Carbon Fiber saddle with Asphalt Vinyl sides, but it won't hurt to check out different textures. Thank you, phytrax, that really helps.

Be warned that some of the textured leathers are VERY slick <-----I can't get seats "slick enough" to maneuver around on the bike and crawl all over it in the twisties. Spraying silicon on the seat and on the leathers helps. Helps get my azz sliding off the seat and legs sticking on the rubbers of the tank to lean off the side of the bike.
To not wanna' have ability to lean way off a sportbike to me is profound...but then again I'm still trying to get used to some of the cruisin' concepts

Sliding is fine for twisties but when launching in the 1/4 mile it makes it hard to stay in control of the bike. I have no trouble sliding around in when I want to with the leather conditioner on the seat. Riding solo the slickness is only a problem off the line but with a passenger it's a lot bigger problem.

...anyway, some of you are too young to remember the days when the 'naked' UJM was the jack of all trades platform of a motorcycle and the rider added stuff to it to suit his/her riding taste....chopper, cafe-racer, tourer, rat-bike, trike, etc. ....not so much different with the ZX-14 nowadays, just more powerful and more refined and less stuff to add

Ya why would ya put a POS like that on yer beautiful 14? The quality on Corbin seats is very inconsistent...foam hardens up on some...won't buy another Corbin anything...look at what happened when they introduced their footpeg lowering kits for the 14...more crap and shitty service.
