Pardon waiter? There is Corbin in my soup!
I am purchasing a Corbin seat in about a month. Quite a few people swear by them as far as comfort goes (especially for bigger people). I am seriously considering getting that new detachable backrest with it that I seen on Corbin's website for when I have a co-pilot. Does anyone on this site have the backrest? If so, can you let me know it's comfort level and if you get any vibration with it? My friend said that when she used to ride on her Dad's cruiser that his backrest used to ITCH her miserably because of the vibration. Also, can you please post pictures of your bike with the Corbin backrest if you have any?

Grandpa! lol:P It's a sportbike, use it as one, or you should be on a cruiser. I wouldn't get a corvette to pull trailers with.

...his bike, his money, his choice....I saw guy on an FLH who shame a few sportbikes up a popular twisty mountain road....so the moral of this little morsel is: not all bikes get to be ridden within its design intent....if the man wants to cruise on one of the fastest bikes with a backrest for support or without the fear of losing his pillion passenger during a moment of shear horsepower exhibition, then more power to him....hell ALOT of less-than-complimentary things can be said about paint and chrome bling that doesn't make a sportbike go any faster...some folks wanna actually ride their bikes and some folks just wanna see or be seen on their bikes....to each their own....btw, I like my Corbin on my 12R...600~800 mile days are no problem for my 6-1/250lb frame....I was begging for mercy after one tank w/the stock seat...

The bike is a fantastic sports-tourer. I bought mine to do far more long distance k's on it than most other people do on a dedicated tourer. I'll also do more sport k's than most people do on a dedicated sports bike.
If a Corbin improves either or both of those requirements to a great extent and doesn't rob anything from the other then I'd definately buy one.
If a comfy seat is a definate no-no for a true sports bike then we'd all better get our seats to the trimmers to get alot of foam removed and a solid base put on instead :P

+ 1 worm. I didn't know that in order to stay true to the 14 that I would have to guarantee myself a pained backside or refuse the comfort of my co-pilot. But I guess a sore ass is nothing to men that are light in the pants like, NinjaNick... it probably just reminds him of a successful date on a Friday night.

Yes Stevewfl, I tend to agree with you, and I am not looking to turn the 14 into a touring bike. All I wanted was information on a little back rest for a passenger. That's all, that's all. Can't a guy get a little detachable back rest? Is it so awful for a bike to have a back rest? Have I somehow angered the 14 Gods by desiring a back rest? Lol!

I think that's some trick shit. There's a seat for every rider boys and if that expands the marketing appeal of the ZX14 I'm all for it. Why shouldn't all types of riders enjoy such a beautiful motorcycle. Thinking out side of the box on that one!
... also I'm not getting any younger (ouch) and every year it gets a little harder to stay tucked up over my rocket for any period of time. I am not a cruiser. However, someday... a 14 with a backrest may appeal to some us... lol.

I have the corbin on my bike and I do have the backrest. Is it on 98% of the time??????? NO, but I do use it when I am givng my kids a ride in the neighborhood. No vibration that they have ever complained about. It is a backrest, but trust me it is a lower back rest only! I will take some pics with the back rest in the next day or so and post them up!
By the way, I only have the backrest for the passenger, I noticed in your link the photo has two back rests.

I only want a passenger backrest, and it will only be on when I have someone riding with me... otherwise I will have the solo cover on. And a passenger back rest does not mean I want to turn my 14 into a touring bike or that I want a cruiser... although I do not see a problem with either. Thanks Rodan - I appreciate the pics.
