Hey Lee, I solved the mystery of how your able to do an 8second run on a "stock" bike. Seems the tracks there are metric. Yep, thats right, only 1000 feet. Don't believe me?? Its right here in this new article:
http://nhra.com/tracks/metric_tracks/division_2.asp

OK, how many of you clicked the link??

Well good luck with everything. That blows ass you have to drive so far to get to a track, we are a hour away from our home track and i thought that sucked. I see you have a nice trailer though... The first couple times are going to seem like a waste...until you make that first complete pass

I won't bitch that we have 3 tracks in our area and one does test and tune often.......less than 70 miles for me to get to that one.

I have one track that is 15 minutes from my house. It isn't open yet, and I think I'd rather make an ass of myself away from home

There are so many freaking numbers on these times slips, I'm guessing that the first one, after the 60' isnt the 1/8 mile number??

That's the 330 ft mark, the 1/8th is next followed by the 1000ft mark and then 1/4mi.

When in doubt - look for the BIGGEST number - that's what you ran :-)

I was so happy on my very first run down the strip b/c I did really bad and still ran a 9.6 - then I realized I ran an 11.4 :-) ..........damn....

So 4.50 at the 330 is good, or bad????

Like I said, I just rode the bike down the track. I was so afraid of the tech guy, who said; "Don't run a 9", and the bike had so much power that I thought I could just drive it down the track to a 9. Guess not.

4.50 isn't THAT good for an extended turbo bike. Here are some incrementals from a pass on my ZX12R

60 ft. 1.634
330 4.278
1/8 6.437
113 mph
1000 ft 8.311
1/4 mile 9.912
mph 140.46

5.70.....That's it?? sheesh, I could miss second and get that. LOL......Oh, wait....that's at that metric track in Fla isn't it?? So the 8th would actually be 500ft instead of the "normal" 660 feet. Ok, that explains it.

BTW....gonna put mine on the dyno tomorrow after I fix the chain. Found another master link. Gonna put the 44 tooth rear sprocket on instead of the stock 41 to move the chain away from hitting the swingarm. Also gonna inspect everything, including alignment. Then were gonna run the piss out of it til the chain stretches and re-tighten it. Probably shoot some video of the bike on the dyno.

44 tooth :-)

I'll still have my 16/43 on when the turbo fires up - I'll be scared to turn the damn throttle.......at least I won't have much power to deal w/ like you :-)

5.70..........I'm not even close yet :-)

I changed to the 17 tooth front. When you go with a long swingarm, the chain tends to hit the swingarm. I'm just moving the wheelbase forward a bit, and moving the chain away from the swingarm with the 44 tooth rear. I can always dial in more "slip' in the multi-stage lockup if the front end comes up to quick. Idea is to carry the front end about 3 inches off the track until the speed trap.

Lee, you have GOT to gain some weight bud. Any 100lb 12yo could ride the same numbers

Found out why I had a problem with the chain. It was a clip type master link. I pulled it off, and the two prongs of the master link were bent. Guess it was too much horsepower. Called the chain manufacturer and they said the same thing. They are sending a rivet type permanent master link, so that should solve my problems.

Note, if any of you are planning on running over 250hp, do not use a clip type master link. It won't be strong enough.

Look Guys 700 hp turbo busas run clip master links and so do prostock and promod guys ..... They run way more than 250 HP with no problems .... You have to glue the clip on with RTV sealant .....Fact is if you buy a DZR2 drag chain it only comes with a CLIP! One would think if the strongest drag chain on the market comes with a clip style master link it would be ok ....Now when is that 3000 dollar turbo going to be ready for us guys ????
