The turbo is headed to Sacramento Raceway Saturday!!!

She's all loaded up in the trailer. I have 5 gallons of 118 octane race gas. The weather will be in the high 60's.
I should be at Sacramento Raceway by around 10 or 10:30. Time trials will be from noon til 4:00.
Anybody interested in coming out and holding my video camera, or giving me a hand unloading would be much appreciated. My "mechanic" friend bailed on me at the last minute, so it will just be me.

I predict that I will be doing 1/4 mile burnouts most of the day. First run will probably be a 10. something, just to feel things out, and get used to the track. I haven't raced there since 1991. I predict that by the end of the day, if the traction is good, and the clutch holds, that I should run an 8. something. I'm not gonna just go out there and run balls out. I'm still getting used to the bike/turbo, and I don't wanna hurt something, or myself.

Free hotdogs to all that wanna show up and help.

I'm not sure why I'm not banned from there. I guess its because I don't post much, and I try to steer away from "controversial" subjects.

The day could have went better. It started off with the tech guy wanting me to make my license passes, no biggie, I had all the paperwork filled out. He said just make 3 passes and shut it off at half track. Can do. On the first pass, as predicted, it spun real bad, no biggie, it was early in the day. On the second pass, I nailed it out of the hole. 1.43 60' time, and in the 1/8 mile it ran 4.544. No mph for the 1/8th, wasn't working. I cruised down the track the rest of the way.

Got back to the pits, and I'm getting ready to air up the shifter for another pass, and I notice something missing on the chain. The little clip and side plate for the master link. Hmmmm, this isn't gonna work. I have a special chain that I got because of its tensile strengh, and until I call the manufacturer to sort this all out, I'll not name the chain. Lets just say it takes a special master link, which of course nobody else had.
The good thing in all this was that I caught the missing clip before I made my 3rd pass. Had I not caught it, the chain likely would have come off, and possibly slapped the engine case, which would have cracked, and been very expensive, or worse, it could have locked up, throwing me from the bike.

So, 2 runs, at $25 a run(cost $50 for test and tune), and a 6 hour round trip drive, not bad for a Saturday afternoon.

The bike pulled really hard. You remember when you pulled the flies on your bike, how much harder it pulled?? Well, this is exactly like that, but double. The 1/8 mile time in the 4's is pretty decent, and I had it cranked down.

The bike is at a friend of mines shop. Were gonna change the chain to something else so this never happens again, I hope. While were at it, were gonnna dyno it again, just to break in the chain, and check things out.

We'll be back out in 3 weeks to try it again.

Something is wrong here ... 4.54.4 in the 1/8 mile ?? That would be a mid to low 7 second 1/4 mile pass. Your bike is going to be fast But not promod fast.. I think you must have been looking at your 330 time and not the 1/8 mile time..If you ran a 4 second 1/8 mile pass you now own the fastest zx14 in the world and i want one just like it !!!

Hey ifly, Did you put silicon on the master link clip???

Funny you should mention that story I was explaining to my girlfriend today why I spent $15 on Toyota black silicon/gasket sealer for oil pans and camshaft housing!!!...I found out about this stuff from another DragRacer after using another brand silicon that came off the link...

The Toyota sealer part # is 00295-00103 and the only way to get it all off the chain link was to scrape it with a small brass wire brush, then I cleaned the link with brake cleaner and re siliconed the link...Anyway, I bought that stuff because it never came off as other silicons have...I say the $15 spent on a 3oz. tube of the Toyota silicon is worth it compared to the damage it can cause!!!...By the way there is nothing wrong with using the EK DRZ2 chain for your turbo...Thats the chain all the turbo guys use in MiRock as is alot of the NHRA Prostock bikes...Dont forget to buy a few extra clip type master links for backup!!!

Now, as for your 4.54 1/8 mile pass...I think the clocks were in error since the mph was not shown!!!...From what I remember Jason Miller does 5.20s or 5.30s in the 1/8 on his Turbo Busa which got him 7.70s, 7.80s in the 1/4, Something in that area???

Yep that # is suspect. Sounds like something may have crossed that finish line before you in your lane. Clocks messed up on that run. Glad you caught the missing link.
Thanks for the pic.

Well i hope he did run a 4.54 but when you see the top Busa guys running 7.70s 7.80s in the 1/4 mile and only runs 5.20s 5.30s in the 1/8 mile it makes you wonder...Maybe there was a problem with the timing system, it does happen ...The other nite i got a time ticket that said i ran a 5.10 in the 1/8 mile and it had no MPH on it ... No way do i go from 5.50s and 5.60s passes to 5.10 ....

I have to say no way to a 4.54 in the 1/8, that would actually be close to a 6.90 to 7.0 run in the 1/4. the timing was not right Sorry. And with your hp a 1.43 60 ft is not gonna get anywhere close to a 4.54 1/8. just for the hell of it I just looked at one of my old funny car slips and I went .998 60 ft 4.12 1/8 and 6.32 1/4 at 215.

Lee, are you following me around??
I was tired when I got home last night, the time I quoted maybe in error. Did I mention the track slopes downhill, and that I had a 40knot tail wind???

There are so many freaking numbers on these times slips, I'm guessing that the first one, after the 60' isnt the 1/8 mile number??

Sorry for the confusion.
