Decal Ideas
Ok, the pic on the right I just got, the one on the left is a photoshop job I'm actually going to put on the rear fenders. It's a pic of me that I tweaked on the computer. Got the one on the right from edecals.com. Think it was only $13 but they forgot the ".com" after ZX-14. E-mail support is slow but they helped me out on the phone. I'm probably going to have to print my custom decal on the clear plastic stuff. Just though I'd throw these out there for comments and ideas to others.

1) Nice
2) They'd better not be adding ".com" or they'll have a lawsuit on their hands
3) BUY SOME REAL ZX-14.com DECALS AND SUPPORT THE SITE FERTHELOVEOFGAWD!!!! Sheesh! We go to the trouble of makin' ya'll decals, and then you order them from somewhere else???

I like mine better, sorry. Wasn't intentionally trying to take business from the site. Kinda thought I was giving the site free advertising but I'll be happy cut off the ".com" ZX-14 if it's a problem. Also thought it might be a idea you guys could use for some new decals instead of the run of the mill, bumper sticker style. Pleading with people to buy your products doesn't seem like a good business strategy.

Sorry but I like phytrax's better as well. Looks good, probably looks better without the .com anyway

phytrax.... thanks for the kind thoughts....
here's the deal:
making a large run of decals costs us a lot of money... there are a million ways to make decals, but not a million ways to make decals that can be shipped easily and economically anywhere in the world... getting some company to make decals for this site without our permission is off-side (we're not trying to be assholes... just honest)
As we've said before, we made decals so that members could help support the community.. we arent making money on them... it's costing us... this place is a hobby run by enthusiasts.
Everytime we make shirts, beanies, decals or you name it, we're fronting the money to make the product. It's really easy to sit back and say "oh, you could do this" or "I really like this bigger decal better", but I think it's safe to say that the majority of the people here have no idea how much time and (unpaid) work goes into setting this stuff up and paying for it... Here's a good example... they charged you $13 for that decal. If you were me, then you'd have to make 150 of them... even if they gave you a discount, it's still a grand... same with shirts... you'd have to make 200. Now, luckily PK has been very cool with her Visa card to carry the costs of things like shirts and decals for members of the site (most of you probably dont know that either)...
So when we finally get around to making decals or shirts or beanies or whatever, it's because we've actually saved up enough of our own personal dough to make the things, or there's enough room on the good ole' credit card to carry it for a few months...
We dont make money on this stuff... we do this because we love motorcycles and we want to support the community (that's all of you)... We dont mind floating the cost of these things for a few months so that everyone can grab themselves a shirt or a decal. The decals that we've made are the best compromise that we can do dimensionally for shipping around the world,.. . and heck.. they''re pretty darn good too!
so again, if people want to help out, it would be great if they visited the online store that freek donated his time to set up and grabbed some zx-14.com decals.
cheers...

Your response is a little confusing, you keep saying you don't make money on this stuff but you won't let me make my own. Maybe you mean you're not making money on the site as a whole. The shirts in particular seem kinda pricey to me. I know keeping the site going is a lot of work and I appreciate the effort. I'll make a point of it to find something I can use in the web store in the near future, but if I'm gonna glue something to my truck I'm gonna have to really like it. I guess you have to ask people to only buy those things from the web store, but I believe any free advertising is still to all our benefit.
By the way, what happened to the long sleeve shirts with the multi colored logo?

the shirts are sold at our cost.. not much we can do about it unless we order thousands, and my basement isnt big enough to hold that many until they get bought up...
The big decal of you on the 14, it's very cool... we simply couldnt make stuff like that and ship it... we just dont have enough money left over to front it for something that big and expensive.
as for the confusion over making your own vs making money... you need to understand that we personally front the money. If you go and make your own, then we're in the hole even more... all we're asking is that people support the site... all we hope to do is break even. This isnt my day job, it's a hobby.
What's left in the store is what we have on hand. Hopefully we can make some more tees in the summer, but we'll only be making tees and in black this time...
phytrax... would you be so kind as to email me at fish_antlers@bikeland.org
thanks!

Sorry fish_antlers, guess I don't know that much about custom t-shirts.
Did a lot more work on my decals, though, and I think I'm gonna get it as a tatoo. It'll be my first one. First thing I've decided I could live with the rest of my life on my skin. Gonna wrap it around my right shoulder. Hope it doesn't cost me a house note. Here's a preview.
