Hey! Just a heads up to all you 14 owners on the boards. I laid my 14 down yesterday, and the vehicle down sensor didn't work. I had to shut my bike off myself. This could be a huge safety issue if you end up wrecking worse than I did.
It's easy to check yours. Just remove your windscreen, unbolt the sensor, and with your bike running, tip the sensor on either side. If your bike doesn't shut off, let your dealership know. Your bike should shut off just with the sensor being on its side, you shouldn't have to tip it upside down, or shake it if its working properly.
Mine is still under warranty, so they're replacing it with no cost to me.

The recall was that the bolts holding down the sensor might be loose or come loose.
Not... that the sensor did not work.
If the sensor came loose while riding it would shut the bike down, major problem. If the sensor did not turn the bike off in the event of a crash, it could be a problem, but much less of one.

____________ What business is it of yours where I'm from, Friendo?

Never thought of that...major bummage there.
I say fuck it anyways...if you go down so hard to where you can't walk over and turn it off really quick, chances are that wreck fucked your bike up beyond it's worth. I'd rather just get a new one.

wait though, wrecked bikes make such wonderful track bike projects!? keep your down sensor operational and let me bid on the wrecked bikes. my project bike was almost as much fun as racing
bought dirt cheap with perfect engine/frame:
stripped down:
suspension sent off to GMD racing, brakes redone/lines replaced, new 520 chain and race ratio sprockets, used race body, used tire warmers, lotta' ebay stuff, and raced at Homestead International raceway a few weekends ago:
here is the rear tag, I have street plastics I'm repairing too (ya I ride it now on the streets with no lights too "sometimes"):

I sure am enjoying my 600, but getting on the 14 aftwards is like sitting on a couch after sitting on a footstool though~
