Mr Turbo
There's an article in today's MCN (UK weekly bike paper) about a Mr Turbo kit for the ZX-14. Sorry I can't scan it for you but the main numbers are 269bhp and 151ftlb at 5lb boost on ordinary pump fuel. That's just the basic set-up. Cost $4999 from Hyper Bike Centers.
Ok then, who's going to be first ?

We can't recommend a turbo purchase from HPC.

there are lots of quality turbo manufacturers out there who have established, reputable shops with experienced technicians to service you.
Do your homework, and dont believe an advertorial you read in MCN.

I love a challenge and wanted to do my own. There are good shops out there, but .......this IS a hobby and working on the bike is a part of it for me. When you get the results and can say "I did that" - it's a great feeling.......

What I want to know is if there is anyone other than Cali Superbikes developing super chargers for sportbikes.
I would like the extra power of a turbo but would never want to give up the the sound of a throaty exhaust. I understand that for drag racing the turbo is the cheapest and most reliable power adder. And I do understand there are parasitic losses with a super charger. But for me the added power without touching the engine internals along with sound of a tuned exhaust syatem is the best of both worlds.
Am I alone on this?
And why Mr. Turbo went with a sole supplier is beyond my understanding, speaking from a business point of view.

I considered it, but it was way more complex.......and woulda been expensive.
The turbo is much more paractical and can give you over 300RWHP w/o internal mods as well.

Ninja 14, thanks for the reply. Will your kit have just a dump pipe or will there be an exhaust pipe with can also?

Lee, I think you're right. There's no way to conceal that turrbo whine so you might as well flaunt it.

I'm doing mine with the turbine outlet going into the stock "ball" under the bike so that it fits stock cans or slip-ons. It will be easy to have it made to fit aftermarket systems or just a dump pipe right out the right lower hole......
BTW - anyone that wants a kit will have to send me their stock exhaust pipe w/ the cash ( or add enough to let me go get one) :-)
I'm reusing the 4 flanges and the "ball" until I decide if I want to fab it all for kits.

Hmm could be interesting, turbo with stock exhaust. Even if it "only" makes 250 horsepower, gonna be fun..

I like the LOOK of the stock cans, but not the WEIGHT and HEAT.
My 2Bros race cans are a little loud - straight through.....and the turbo will tone it down a bit....hopefully just right.....

My turbo, with the straight dump pipe is no louder than my Muzzy 4 into 1. Got a funny whistle to it though.
