Over heating question

I was riding home in 72 deg weather all stop and go for about 12 miles bike temp gage rose till there was one bar left. Is this normal? Yes the fan comes on bike at the time had about 800 miles on it and I was not running the RPM's up when riding.

get rid of the stock exhaust, it will run about 30-40 degree's cooler, those cats really stifle the engine, and hold in the heat.

seen 110/ 45C last summer... no problems

Mine never ran as hot after the smeg,pc3 and map from Brock.

Same report for the middle of Florida in the summer.... it'll run hot, but has never overheated or puked fluids.

I agree with Dubious. The fan on my 14 was always cutting in when I stopped in traffic. Since I fitted a 4:1 system the bike runs cooler and the fan has not been on once. Also the cats on the standard system run so hot there really ought to be a heat shield over the exhaust. they're DANGEROUS.

+1 Bob.
Very dangerous around children. Anyone in short clothes actually, including me.
Another excellent reason for getting my Gen 3. Maybe the most socially responsible reason to boot. Also improved MPG and quiet .
The factory should address this IMHO.

Oh you are going to love the gen3 - and of course the bike is going to run cooler (at least mine does) but most importantly its going to run quicker

Yeah, I had my bike in two parades and it never got hot. It stayed at one bar above the halfway mark the whole time. This was with the stock exhaust too. Both parades lasted about 30 minutes. Yeah I know exactly how hot the factory pipes get. I burnt the piss out of my right leg one day when I was moving the bike around in the garage after I rode it home from the dealer. It had been sitting for about 15-20 minutes and I had put shorts on, ouch! The new d&d pipes cool down pretty quick.

Me too, got home and went into the house to change out of my leathers into some shorts. Came out ten minutes later to move the bike and ended up with a third degree burn on my leg. Still have the scar and remember the pain, it's a point worth making. Maybe I should have sued Kawasaki.

I can usually put my bare hand fully on my Gen3 while it's running.
