mini air compressor for air shifter tank bottle.......
I am getting ready to install my Muzzy air shifter kit and was wondering if anyone has used an air compressor from a mini tire air tank to keep the shifter air tank filled with air?
Do you have instructions on how to wire and hook up the compressor to the tank?
Here's a photo for starters but where would I incorporate the compressor at?

Compressor would have an airline going into the other end of the air tank. You have to plug one of the airlines coming from the compressor. I have mine mounted under the seat along with the bottle. You may also want to put a tee fitting in between the bottle and eletric air valve and have line running up front with your gauge up front some where.
Bently, I will take pictures of the setup for you.
When you get a chance could you take a picture of the how you have the shift cylinder mounted. I trying not to drill in the frame. to mount it?
Thanks
Nelson

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for pics if possible. I am trying to understand exactly how you plumbed the mini compressor in. Basically have a good welder put another fitting on the bottom of my tank and connect the compressor there right and of course have a gauge so that I can see the pressure.
The shifter cylinder uses the stock frome bolt that does not require you to drill or tap into the frame which I fuggin hate. BTW, how much pressure should stay at the electric valve to make the cylinder shift? Those little mini compressors go up to like 100 psi or so right? How do you have the compressor wired?

I think the co2 systems are simpler to use and take up less space. Few hundred shifts out of a 7-9 oz bottle.

I usually put 100-120lbs of air pressure in the system. Some use less I heard as low as 60-80lbs.
Wiring is nothing more than grounding the negative to the frame (i used the helmet lock bolt and placement). And running the positive to the battery. I placed heavy duty on/off switch in between the positive post on the battery and the compressor.

O.K., great then. This way I never have to take the bottle out to re-fill even though there are a lot of shifts out of a 2 lb bottle. Whenever you can though, take those photos of everything installed under the seat for me. That will give me a great view of what I need to do as well.
What sized tank do you have? I don't think I want to use the Muzzy 5 gallon barrel tank.

Bently here you go. Sorry Pic is so big.
I am going to have to cut some of the plastic under the seat just where the bottle is to allow the seat to fasten. Shouldn't be much though.

Picture of the on/off switch for the compressor and the bolt where the negative lead is grounded.

Great. That is kinda what I thought it should be like.
Where does the line come off the tank to go to the shifter or is it just not hooked up in the photo? All of the brass fittings and that biggest brass piece, is that part of what you took out of the air compressor kit to put on the bike? How well does it work like that so far?
Sorry for all the questions but had to ask anyways.

Sorry hadn't been on some time.
The rest of the line is not hooked up but just runs to a Tee fitting which send line up front to a gauge and the other towards the solenoid and the shifter it self.
Havent tried it yet. That larger brass piece is nothing more than a filter you dont really need that. A line can run straight to the bottle from the compressor.
Track not open and its to cold to ride here. Maybe in another week or two I'll try it.
Ask as many as questions as you want.

Thanks again Nelson. I really appreciate that man. For now, I have the tank as is and may just add the compressor later just to see how well I can make it work that way. I am just told by many not to use that compressor for reasons that the C02 is way better but I know of too many guys that have the compressors on their bikes and seem to be running just fine.
Please let me know how well it works out. It is cold here in Maryland too so I am stuck inside doing this kind of stuff until it warms up.
