Fantastic news guys in the last few posts about wet riding with the flies out - I love riding in the rain (no other time can you actually feel yourself getting close to the limits of the bike/tyres on the street). Nothing better than chuckling to yourself when you know the car driver next to you is commenting to their passenger about how miserable you must feel -
Hell no - I've never felt more alive.
Sort of OT (is that allowed steve? ) - are the people posting about flies in GSXR's and R1's talking about the same thing? i.e. the second set of butterflies that are in the ZX14 that do nothing bur regulate HP as opposed to the normal set that are in most (all?) throttle bodies? Would hate for someone to take the flies out of a "normal" bike just because they read here that taking the flies out of a 14 is the norm.
Steve - sorry if it's a repost, but I've been through almost all the threads on this forum and not found an answer to the questions I asked. I figured it was because it hadn't been asked before and as such was worth asking.
I had read the post you linked to as well as many others that talked about "flies out" - one had a similar photo to the one in the link you had that had a image of an actual shot of fuel entering the body - that was an awesome an lucky photo. Very good shot.
if you can find a post that answers:
"Given that a lot of my riding will be in peak hour traffic during traffic jams and during the rain and on slippery roads - would removing the flies give the bike too much bite? (am basically wondering why they are there in the first place if the bike is still useable in those circumstances with them removed)."
I will apologise profusely for the time, bandwith and server storage that I have wasted with my blatantly inconsiderate crosspost (although it probably takes up less space/bandwidth that the very educational and enlightening JPEG (who the hell saves space by posting JPEG's?) that you use to help me realise the errors of my way),
If you can't find a post that actually answers the question (or even touches upon it) can I buy the first round when we catch up to actually talk about how awesome the bikes actually are?
Cheers

Thats pretty much the idea/gripe I have with the bike at the moment - Cruise at traffic speed and I need to be at 5-6k (can't remember how many rpm's - not on bike ) to have comfortable power there for when I need it without needing to change down.

I'll try to find a yamaha message board and see. Thanks.

Most of us don't mind. Usually a different angle or point of view pops up that is interesting. Hell, it's no different than hanging out with your buddies and talking about the same things again and again. I got a couple friends I swear have Alzheimer's, talk about the same thing almost every week.
