Getting to the battery
I was trying to get to the battery to put a charge on it - and I am having a bit of a problem - If I have it right - I need to take the bottom fairing in order to remove the GeoForemen in order to remove the battery cover. Assuming this is correct - 5 allens need to be removed on the lower fairing and then there is an unusual connector at the very front near the ground that connects it to the other side...... and I have not beed able to figure out how you remove that peice..... can any advise - thanks.

I will have to try that - I was not able to get the grill off - the snapping it out approach was not immediately successful.
Now for when removing the lowers - I am still bewildered by the fastener on the bottom front that connects the two sides together - how is that disconnected?

Meantime - I have updated the firmware in the Powercommander to hold multiple maps, and I got the new display unit working and about ready to install the new multipurpose hub - this will get integrated with the innovate data azquisition unit..... feels like alot of connections ..... KSP

The center connector is a pop out type. The center of the connector is a pin, that when pulled out about an inch allows the whole pin to be removed. To pop out the center pin, take a small flat blade screwdriver and look for the flat on the center pin. slide the flat blade under the flat on the center pin and "pop" it out towards the front wheel. It will come out about an inch, then grb the whole pin with a pair ot needle nose pliers on remove the entire pin out toward the front wheel.
Once you separate the two pieces at the bottom and remove the the screws you will have to seperate the lowers from the mid faring. to do this... swing the lower R/S up towards the top of the bike like a wing unfolding, you will notice it seems like it is connected to the mid fairing. IT IS.. there are interlocking tabs that keep it together, once you slowly pull the lower up far enough (about 90 deg) from bike the tabs will release...GO SLOW...LOOK. Now do the L/S you will have to raise the kick stand to swing up the lower far enough to release. GOOD LUCK

Thanks for the input..... this is not intuitive. I did successfully get to the battery and charged it..... for anyone else on this journey you do not have to pull the battery out of the compartment to charge - just hook positive to the terminal and then the negative has a lead that attaches to the frame to the right of the battery - making it a rather simple exercise. I should probably post a thread on the other project..... updating the PC and setting up the new display and multi hub from Power Commander. I will try to do that tonight. Also - anyone interested in race fuel may want to look at the VP site - apparently U4 will be discountinued and replaced by U4.1 - that will give more HP with less caustic behavior for half the cost of MR9........ but still harder on parts than MR9. It went into production on Tuesday..... probably another topic for a new thread. I also just order ceramic bearings (5- 6006RS) for a new set of GailSpeed wheels from World Wide Bearings - we will see how this inestment impacts performance. I will report on that as time moves on....
Thanks again,
Kevin
